Man, I hadn't touched BLM yet but it's extremely fun now. And a bit confusing at 60 at first.

The Arcana gauge is so fuckin annoying and pointless for ast.

- I still have both a draw and spread icon in the middle of the screen anyway, so i can see their cooldowns.
- I cant turn it off because then i cant see which RR buff i have at all
- Cant see other AST buffs, so cant work around their combos
- Can no longer click buffs off, which was really useful.....

Yes, I really don't like it, I feel like it's a downgrade from what we previously had.

I wish the game didn't allow you to use Enochian if it's already active, since it does nothing. 2 years? of muscle memory still make me waste it from time to time.

Yeah, Enochian is linked to maintaining AF/UI (on top of a greatly reduced recast in case you lose it anyway), and you get Umbral Hearts when casting Blizzard 3, cutting the cost of your Fire Spells, which gives you more Fire 4 casts. I really love the new rhythm.

The golden spikes in the lower-right hand corner of the gauge aren't there if you don't have Enochian up, that's how you can tell. I agree that it's confusing at first.

I just finished Hildibrand's quests for the first time. And the story/characters there are so much better than the base game (I still didn't get to the HS and SB content), I remember I was skipping a lot of the non-voiced dialog in the main quests because it wasn't very interesting.

The way the AST gauge conveys info is annoying as well. I keep mixing up whether I have a card on my hand or my spread, the icon and text that shows the Royal Road effect is really small and so on

I don't have the specific thing you're asking about but I will however say SAM and RDM come with fewer actions at 50 than a job would have had in prior expansions. It's not nearly as difficult to handle as I was expecting.

Not really, all the extra jobs you might want to play as (Dark Knight, Samurai, etc) are gated behind lvl 50.

I personally think Palace of the Dead is the fastest way to level. I went from 50-60 Samurai in a few days just running PotD. Although, I would do your daily dungeon roulettes on top of that. Both of those things will get you to 50 pretty quick.

So is the only real benefit of maximizing gear for gatheres in end game for bonus items and then during the next expansion making the grind a bot easier? I'm noticing that mining item collectibles can't be easily grinded out to jump to level 61 because they basically require you to be decked out in perception materia.

This triggers me immensely. RDM, class KNOWN FOR FANCY HATS, has like 3 fancy hats to choose from for glamour. Bard has insane amounts, including stealling a hat from PGL and SAM...

Quite frankly, glamour shouldn't even be bound by class period...

The only thing that needs changing is the fact we can't see another AST's cards, imo. I just tend to memorize the buffs I have which makes it easier than looking at the gauge.

Your Class evolves into a Job at Lv30.

Previously you would have to level a secondary class to 15 in order to receive your Job stone and progress, but they've removed that now. So Class quests give you your abilities and a story from 1-30 then Job quests are a new story and more abilities from 30-50 and beyond. But yes, they are essentially the same thing.

Think of jobs like your upgraded classes. For example if you are a Lancet, once you hit level 30 you will upgrade to a dragoon.

TL/DR:
Single Target:
DA Carve and Spit on cooldown
DA Bloodspiller if in grit
DA Bloodspiller/Syphon/Soul if not in grit, up to you.
Use The Blackest Night whenever you think you can have the full shield consumed. It helps your group more than it hurts your personal dps (the loss is negligable) when you're not in grit. If you're in Grit this is actually a DPS gain. Bottom line: USE IT.
In AOE:
Abyssal Abyssal Abyssal
TBN use is mandatory if taking too much damage
Using TBN when you're not taking too much damage is only a gain on extending blood price with delirium
If you're in bloodweapon and about to drop a quietus that will cap your MP and then some, consider Dark Passenger + Dark Arts Quietus. If there are 10 or more mobs you are clear to use Dark Arts Dark Passenger.
If you're in grit with Bloodprice with mobs generating more MP than abyssal spam can spend, consider DA abyssal for sustain or Dark Passenger for ds.

For the base classes, you'll get a job crystal at level 30. Equipping that will change your class into a job, which has more actions and better stats. The expansion jobs will give it to you on unlock.

Please do not be the level 60 Gladiator. There was some gimmicky stuff you could do as a class in 1.0 and it was slightly understandable to not immediately go unlock the job before Stormblood, but forgetting it is in general a bad idea.

Happened to me on PS4, I think it happens when a file(s) gets corrupted. I had really long load times and eventually my PS4 crashed upon teleporting out of Kugane. I had to redownload 22gigs once I logged in again.

Koppranickel sand sells for like 2.1k on my server. I've been harvesting that and selling it in batches of 20.

Finally leveled AST to 70 but I'm not sure what to level up next, Monk has been my main DPS class but reading post every where about how lackluster everything they have now its depressing, got it to 62 and begin able to actually get a use of Chakras is nice but it seems the riddles and brotherhood add nothing.

Those are accessories for tanks and STR based DPS classes.

As a Scholar you want "of Healing" accesories.

Basically anything with Mind.

"Of Casting" accessories with Intelligence are for Summoner.

Yeah don't even worry about gear until you hit 70. The story quests and side quests will give you all the gear you need to keep leveling.

I haven't really had any issues with the Arcana gauge other than not being able to click off my held card and not seeing other ASTs buffs. Kinda frustrating when I throw out a 150% Balance but another AST decides to use their AOE balance at the same time, overriding mine. If I knew they had it, I'd have waited for their to go out before throwing mine on the SAM.
