Fortnite |OT| Earliest Access VS Husks

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
You get 3 training manuals from level 16 or something in the collection notebook if you've been keeping up with that.

But yeah it seems like a pain to get a lot.

Evolved my rare Rameriz hoping for a cool new look and she got....absolutely nothing. Heartbreaking fam.

Does Plinkerton have a more interesting graphical area with some better missions?

How is the coop experience? Is it smooth for a group of friends? More important how is progress kept? Does only the host keep progress, or does everything you do carry over to your own game? There is a group of 4 of us wanting to play, but we were curious since 1 or even 2 might not be on from time to time...

Thanks///

The only thing you don't share progress on is the 10 home base defense challenges as they're your own custom bases. You can still work together but it will only count for the person the base belongs to. Other than that all progress is shared in missions.

I have done a few things that I think will be a problem long term.

Something I usually do, is when I get 2 schemes of the same weapon, I retire one to get XP, then use this XP to upgrade the weapons I use on the missions.

I am starting to realize that at high level, I will have to retire 4 or 5 or maybe even 10 schemes to produce one legendary scheme. Not having these douplicated schemes around to burn will seriusly hurt hard. Having to (what is efectivelly) a highly optimized version of a weapon will hurt. And because the weapon I will receive is random, it can even be a downgrade. Or a duplicated legendary.

I will stop retiring weapon schemes.

With survivors is simular. But I have only retired the gray (common) ones. I have a huge collection of survivors, and that help me match skills and attitudes into good teams.

I have not touched defenders, because seems useless. It don't think is a bad idea to retire a defender, and the resulting XP will be hero xp (I believe). But I don't feel the need to rush that.

For traps, I don't know. The meta of this game can change over time. I have seen good players fighting hordes in a way that made traps seems unnecessary in the 23th level.
Leveling traps stars change then to require more resources. And thats a serius no-no thing.

---

In any case, slowing down my income of weapons scheme xp is not going to hurt because my main weapons already are 2 stars or are already near there. And I don't plan to get to 3 stars until I have a good income of malaquite. By the point I get into a territory where I can craft legendary weapons schemes I will probably have a fat collection of schemes to burn.

Or I can sacrifice the blue ones, maybe.

I'm a bit disappointed (so far) how little focus there is on the actual fort and trap building. It seems most players are content to put a square around the Atlas then simply shoot the hordes until victory. I assume that will change once I get to Plankerton and the fort will be relied on more heavily (I hope). I worry this is instilling a mentality of 'ignore the fort, just kill' in the player base which is gonna bite everyone in the ass when (if) the difficulty ramps up.

I was too, but the last couple of games I was put with people and we made some really good forts that focussed on traps, saved me a ton of ammo. Currently working my way through the 34 power level missions. Hopefully these last few games weren't just a fluke.

I was really proud of the last fort people build in the games I played. But the more the game require large forts, the less people want to play the map at all. You can't ask people to build a fort that require a stack of 999 metal, because thats hours of farming.

this won't do in higher levels, need the fort to help

Is there a way to simple edit your base without doing a defense? I'd love to burn through supplies there upgrading when possible without triggering a storm defense.

This game looks so fun, but the business model is so fucking terrible.

Wish I could just buy it for full price with all the content.

This trend needs to stop.

You can actually max out resources pretty fast with the pickaxe enhancements. I can go from all zeros to 999 on all 3 in a single round with survivors or encampments and still take part in the mission already. You get even more time in the other missions and a lot of the time the bases are made of pure stage 3 metal.

It's not as hard to do as you might think since you're all chipping in. The only one I can think of where it's not possible is build the shelter, where realistically you want to have farmed in the prior mission instead.

You won't be missing any meaningful content. The premium stuff has extra skins and daily login rewards but the lowest end pack still has all the game and all the heroes.

Nah no thanks, won't be rewarding these business models with purchases.

I'll wait for the free version and see if that is tolerable.

By all means. I'm just saying the low end version now or the free version in the future won't be less of a game. Well f2p remains to be seen I guess but it doesn't look like they could do much to restrict it.

Yeah. You can go to your bases anytime and edit them.

You have to set the defense off so just don't. When you leave, it'll save.

I wish there was an easier way to demolish/edit your homebase. As I become more flush with resources I'm attempting to reconfigure my base from 'oh god the zombies are attacking, walls walls walls' to something more elegant and considered. Knocking down partially upgraded walls takes forever, with no return.

I think this is coming sooner than later since everyone agrees it takes way too long to demolish outside of combat.

I've got 65 skills unlocked in tier 2, but i still need some Plank Off quest and I have no idea when that is. Can't find any info on it. The resources online for this game are garbage.

Pretty sure it is the same as in the first region, it's the rocket launching mission at the very end of Plankerton. It's obviously not an optional mission so there is no way to miss it, so just keep progressing the main quests.

Your point is well taken, but the first skill tier follows the exact same model so it's not like this progression isn't choreographed. You also have quest log you can scroll through horizontally to see that Plank Off is that last Plankerton quest.

I played f2p during the alpha and I can say it's fair as f2p too.

Are there good Ninja's that don't focus on swords? Haven't gone through them all but the few I looked at all had skills that required swords.

Just bought this game last night and played with friends up until you build your own base. I want to take my time with it though, so that's being saved till after work today!

We did help another friend who hates base building. I just build a bunch of staircases to nowhere :p

Weird edge case Xbox question.

If I have the basic fortnite founders on my account, can my son buy the 'upgrade' to a deluxe edition on his account (on the same xbox)? I presume not.

I really like Dragon Scorch, and rarely use my actual melee weapon. His skill set mostly revolves around a powered up dragon slash. I'm usually using my sniper rifle to kill the bigger husks, then slash to clear the hordes of weaklings in one swoop.

Fortnite early access doesn't work the way most Xbox/PS games do. You need one copy per gamertag.

Thanks! I'll look out for him seeing as I don't have him atm.

retire defenders

I went through and retired all the defenders I could. I tried using one once, and I'll happily take some random who isn't trying hard over a defender any day of the week. Having their level up xp tied to the same pool that levels up heroes? Yeah...that's not ever going to happen.

I recall in Alpha, that the devs said at one point that the daily llama is purely RNG for what shows up. So there was never a set schedule or dependability on when certain llamas would appear.

Which Llama is best to go for? The upgrade llama or the people llama? Noticing the people llama is more expensive...am I more likely to get heroes from the people llama or is it just survivors?

Demolished my entire homebase this evening and rebuilding with grade 3 iron walls in pyramid shapes around each amplifier. Taking absolutely decades to gather all the metal required, can barely complete the walls of one pyramid before I'm out.

Honestly I'd save for the super Llama's. They guarantee a legendary, the current rates are way too low on the regular Llama's. The super ones are 1000-1500 vbucks, but they're worth it unless you are of course the luckiest person in the world.

Gah, they have missions which need to be repeated to find all the stuff required to progress - the grind is real!

Trap parts x 4 - 100% of map uncovered, found 0.

Any advice?

How is this game of 98% of ypur time will be voiceless matchmaking?

I kinda want to either jump in now or not at all but realistically know my gaming time is too random to have a regular group.

Choose a different map. I had the same issue as the game kept putting me into "Ride the Lightning" and I could never find the stuff for the quest. Hope this helps!

It works fine, just tough when people have varying objectives and don't communicate what they are. You can use the in game text chat too, which helps.
