This has the same problem as the humble monthly, Which is not knowing what the games are in advance. It's not expensive, but I refuse to spend money on a surprise.

They can't even be bothered to list examples on their website, which is already problematic.

A few people here are already expecting translations of super niche Japanese RPGs, obviously those will never happen. The best anyone could possibly expect is rom dumps of games by companies that don't really exist, like LJN, Jaleco or Acclaim.

This one seems to be a homebrew NES game, but I don't know if what's on steam is a rom being emulated.

What it has versus Humble Monthly is a guarantee that you don't already own the game, but I'd also add that so far every Humble Monthly bundle has been EV+ if you just want to break it up into pieces and resell all the keys.

The first game is WayForward's Lit, and this is a self-correcting problem as the games begin to come out. I don't think there's anything wrong with waiting until later, but from my perspective $20 on a gamble seemed like the better deal than $60, missing the first couple of games, but being more assured of the value.

I think the only thing I don't want is just straight emulated games.

It needs some pizzaz. I want my games to be PUMPED as much as I'm going to GAME PUMP my library.

North & South would be really cool but I think there's a weird rights situation with the game. You might want to check out this loosely inspired(?) game on Steam: The Bluecoats: North vs. South
It's not loosely inspired, it's the original game. The non french versions just had the original comic book characters replaced with generic references.

As such, North Vs South has been available on PC since the 80ies (when the original game was released)

and you would call Lit (the one that people were assuming was the first) a classic?
Maybe classic was the wrong word. But the idea is that this program is about bringing previously unreleased games on PC to PC. Do you classify a new game launching symtaneously on consoles and PC to fall within that category?

I wouldn't call Lit a classic either, but apparently this company considers it one.

In the US I would say it's a fairly common phrase for people to get excited

its common but it would also be incredibly coincidental to be used when a service called gamePUMP is coming out at the same time. I think Wok is right on this one...

...ugh that hurt to say

How long does the $20 for a year promo last? Really interested in biting on this.

Edit: Linelight is a completely new game right? Seems outside of Gamepump's wheelhouse

Yep, got intrigued, but most likely a false positive.

The first game should be Lit.

For you.

seems kinda unlikely and against the very thing they said they would do tho lol

I subscribed because this seems interesting but the fact that it only has at most around $4000.00 in sales, seems a little worrisome.

Maybe when the games start coming out sales will pick up?

Edit: sorry I meant 8000.00, still not super promising but better than I thought above.

Ya I guess this is what worries me too. I don't have any faith they will make it through the year. Obviously they will get some cash from people buying the games straight up individually, and they will pick up more subs once they release something, but I don't think their sub model is helping them persay

GAF is the only place I ever heard about Gamepump.

I never received any purchase confirmation from Gamepump? I just have the Paypal receipt back from November. Is this correct or should I contact for support? In the FAQ I read something about user accounts.

I'm in the same boat as you. We at least have our transaction IDs/ref. so we can contact them with it and get the link to the bundle in due time.

Same question. I paid with PayPal so never got an account

I was never given a number other than Paypal's confirmation. But honestly, I'll be perfectly happy with this if we get two or three great games and a bunch of decent ones.

In the same boat I ordered with PayPal in November, but still have no account or confirmation order. Won't worry until the first game hits if nothing happens, but with all the people in the same position I think it will be resolved.

Looking forward to LIT, though hoping for the WiiWare version but setting my expectations to the mobile one.

I dunno why they haven't at least contacted outlets like kotaku and the like to get some publicity.

This part worries me. The guy behind it has credentials but if he can't even get big media outlets to write a story, then how much pull will he have to lock down good releases? I thought his experience with Humble Monthly would be a plus, but then again... it's Humble Monthly. How healthy can that thing be doing?

I think it's around 60-75k subscribers * $11.50 give or take = ~8-10 million a year in revenue, of which their cut is surely at least 1-2 million. *shrug* Seems like a pretty healthy business to me.

What makes you so sure they haven't?

There's every possibility that they did contact media outlets but no-one bothered to run a story on them because they haven't really said anything worth reporting--yes, they exist and they intend to bring new games to Steam every month but a lot of people simply don't care about this service and won't care until Gamepump starts being more forthcoming about the games they have in the pipeline and the games they're pursuing more generally.

The only people who are going to give them money upfront without knowing what they're paying for are maniacs who are projecting their specific wants onto a company that may very well deliver something entirely different.
