Is the Successor to the Nintendo Switch Engineered Specifically to Run GTA 6? The Implications Could Be Huge.

No and stop even suggesting this stuff.

But i have the strong feeling that Capcom already fucked wilds to make it run on a sw2 somehow.

Hopefully greed is not gonna turn switch 2 in an even worse series s case.

If it won't run on the switch 2 then Microsoft will secure the mobile version on Xbox handheld, I think it's too early talk about hardware limitations.

Look, switch 2 will surprise a lot but especially with the crossgen titles. Such as having (or being able) to run Horizon forbidden west handheld mode like a base PS4. (But no 3rd parties push graphics like that..) The faster SSD and I/O will stream and then be more compatible with modern games, which a lot of 3rd parties will like

But to run maybe the top most demanding game of the gen? Naw

Seems to be that rockstar uses RT global illumination as default and wouldn’t even have a rasterized version for switch. Even with RT cores this is too much.

I’m pretty sure Nintendo asked capcom what it needs to get Monster Hunter wilds, and that answer was most likely to bump from 8GB to 12GB

Lol. Nintendo only designs their hardware for their own games and Rockstar doesn't give a fuck.
The focus is on releasing the game on PS5/XBX and then PC asap.

It’s not such a crazy idea.

Consider for a moment that we don’t know what has been improved about the dock. My hypothesis is that the dock contains a second GPU that runs SLI. It may also have a dedicated PhysX coprocessor as well as some of that secret sauce they developed from Project Reality that never made it into the N64 because it was too hot and power hungry for the tech at that time.

I think some of the Ponies and Rats will be dumbfounded when they see what this little machine will be capable of.

I don't where the idea of thinking of GTA VI as some kind of benchmark came from. I see this kind of thinking with new GPUs too.

The franchise has never been like this, super heavy in the graphics department. GTA VI will run on any potato. If it could, Take Two would even impose a PS4 version.

In the case of the Switch, I assume it was a lack of interest. They gave up on GTA V (just like they gave up on many things), but they launched GTA Trilogy, probably to test the market. If it sells well on the Switch, then the Switch 2 may get a version of GTA VI.

Why does this happen before every Nintendo hardware is released? People theorize that Nintendo is going to do the most Anti-Nintendo thing and make the most powerful console possible, being the go to place for 3rd party games. It doesn't happen.

I'll be surprised if GTA6 ever makes it to the next Nintendo console, considering the current switch can't even run the equivalent of the PS3 version of GTA5

Who did the OP steal this article from.

Or did you use chat GPT to write this?

Typing the DLSS abbreviation and then putting what it means after in parenthesis (come on bruh)

I like how confident everybody in this thread are about future events and how everyone implies thinking differently is signal of dementia, delusion or both.

Let me jump in: if this game runs on series s, than it has no reason to not run on switch successors either.

However, during this entire generation, all rockstar games released on the switch where ported by other studios. GTA trilogy, RDR, all done by others. A lot of third parties have a policy of letting ports for Nintendo consoles be done by others or not doing at all. So I think we can all be sure it won't be released day and date with the initial release, but later, who knows...

This, from a technical standpoint a GTA6 port for Switch 2 is totally possible… Btw, reactions from this thread are a carbon copy of The Witcher 3 Switch port rumor thread… Like i said before, Gaf never learn, anything could happen.

It depends on how CPU intensive it will be imo and how strong the Swithc 2 CPU will be. I think with DLSS there is a chance they could turn down graphics enough for the GPU to handle.

lets atart with something much easier to run on the switch 2 like, lets say, alan wake 2. According to all these people the switch 2 is more than capable to run alan wake 2 if it can run on series s

A than the very same people will spend the next 8 years fighting and saying that graphics and hardware dosent matter... its the nintendo cicle. Every company has their own dumb fanboy crazy cicles lol.

GTA6 being done with Switch 2 in mind would be insane. It's a platform without any user vs PS5 that by that time will be at over 80M units sold, plus like 30M from Series S/X ...

Plus...GTA6 being released with graphics that a PS4 could run is just not happening. That would backfire.

Rockstar has more to lose by doing this than Nintendo is winning from this. Nintendo doesn't need GTA. They can have their own games and people will buy their consoles...everything else is a bonus.

Do Western 3rd party ports even sell that well on Switch? They have a massive userbase, but most of their players are under the age of 12 or are located in Asia. If you like playing mature rated games you don't play them on switch, unless you are into those hentai games. I don't really see that changing even if there will be more developers porting their games when Switch 2 releases

The Switch version of Witcher 3 could be above 3 million right now, Doom and a lot of late ports are selling really well on Switch too.

Link to 3 mil sales? I only see 700,000 around when it launched on Switch. Regardless, The Witcher 3, probably the most technically impressive game on Switch, has sold 3mil of their 50 plus million units sold on Switch. I don't think 3rd party publishers look at that as some gold mine

There is a reason why there are not more mature rated 3rd party ports released on Switch. I can't even remember the last prominent one to release

Alexios

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
I'm sure Nintendo consults third parties on some level while designing hardware. Which doesn't mean they'd drastically change much to accommodate them. I'm also sure Rockstar isn't one of them. More like Capcom and Namco and such maybe.

Nintendo is delivering the best system they can for the price no matter what, and it's going to run GTA worse than a Playstation no matter what. This "engineered specifically" idea is weird.

It was at almost 2 Million by March of 2022, it was in a million sellers games list for the Switch.. Searching that list right now.
