If it did run GTA 6 it would be a port with a lot of compromises.

If it can be "downported" then it can be "lower graphics" for a 60fps mode. Especially with AI upscaling. So those who are saying that the game can't run at 60fps on a PS5 Pro due to "all the simulation", their words, how is it going to run on a portable Switch? It doesn't make sense. My point exactly.
If it’s 4k 30 on PS5, not out of realm of possibility that it can be downported running on a much lower resolution.
The Witcher 3 is 30fps on PS4 and on Switch… Details, resolution, etc etc are big factors, some of you acting like is impossible is most impressive to me.DF's next video: "GTA6 probably doesn't have 60fps mode on a PS5 Pro, but here's how it will run on a Switch with PS4 equivalent power."
Most games on a base PS4 are 30fps. So a game being 30fps on that now weak Jaguar is normal. On a PS5 pro though? Those PS4 games became 60fps even 120fps modes. If a game is being pushed as impossible to reach 60fps on a PS5 Pro. How is it going to run on a portable switch? The Witcher 3 is 30fps on PS4 and on Switch… Details, resolution, etc etc are big factors, some of you acting like is impossible is most impressive to me.
Learn what? The hypotesis on the OP is pretty shit to begin with. Even if GTA6 DOES make its way into the console in the future, the whole idea of Nintendo designing its little handheld around the demands of Rockstar is still pretty stupid. This thread is going to be fun in the future Gaf never learn…
It's good to dream.This.
GTAV on NS will be the ultimate version and will match MK8 sales.
Ironically Series S paved the way for easier Switch 2 ports of these games. They were even smart enough to bump up the RAM a little over the Series S.No and stop even suggesting this stuff.
But i have the strong feeling that Capcom already fucked wilds to make it run on a sw2 somehow.
Hopefully greed is not gonna turn switch 2 in an even worse series s case.
And they only did that because they were porting it to PS4, so it was a question of "why not? It's a Xbox 360 game".They ported RDR tho, which, if I remember correctly, was described as "spaghetti code".
Should have been easier to port GTA5.

It's not like people here believe that it's completely, 100% impossible to make it run on Switch 2, just that why would Rockstar even bother? They didn't even port GTA5 to Switch 1.I am talking about the game being possible on the Switch 2
Funny... i don't see Rockstar accepting any Nintendo limitations...
I’d play that… I liked the top-down GTAs. :|Switch 2 will get the exclusive topdown view
The 12Gb is almost confirmed at this point. If it has enough cpu power it will be on switch 2. It has the memory since it's beyond series s and GPU can more easily be scaled with resolution and different effects settings. The cpu will be the determining factor assuming the 12GB is correct for memory.
You're a funny guy.Could GTA 6 Run on the Nintendo Switch 2?
Let’s take a moment to consider whether GTA 6 could run on the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 and what this could mean for the gaming industry. First, we know that Rockstar’s games are notoriously demanding in terms of hardware capabilities. GTA 6 is expected to push the boundaries of what modern consoles can handle, with cutting-edge graphics, massive open-world environments, and intricate gameplay systems. On the other hand, Nintendo has traditionally prioritized accessibility and innovation over raw power when designing its hardware.
That said, in my opinion, there’s a compelling case to be made that Nintendo’s hardware team may already be collaborating with Rockstar to make this dream a reality. In fact, I would go as far as to say that the hardware of the Switch 2 may be specifically designed with GTA 6 in mind. While this might sound exaggerated, consider the strategic implications: crafting hardware capable of running GTA 6 decently would not only secure Rockstar’s blockbuster title but also pave the way for a broader influx of third-party AAA games.
If the Switch 2 is designed with more robust hardware—perhaps leveraging a custom chipset from NVIDIA with features like DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling)—it might bridge the gap between portability and performance. This could make it capable of running a "tuned-down" but still impressive version of GTA 6.
From a strategic perspective, having GTA 6 on the Switch 2 could be a game-changer. It’s not just about technical feasibility; it’s about market dynamics. GTA 6 is more than just a game; it’s a cultural phenomenon. If Nintendo manages to secure this title for its platform, it could shift consumer expectations, especially for players currently aligned with PlayStation. The prospect of enjoying a portable version of such a massive game might even lead some PlayStation users to consider the Switch 2 as a viable alternative—perhaps even over a future PS6.
Furthermore, the economic implications of such a move are massive. Securing GTA 6 would not just sell consoles; it would open up new revenue streams. Third-party games would follow suit, and with them, a surge in demand for accessories, online services, and expanded digital marketplaces. If Nintendo captures GTA 6, they capture everything that comes with it: the prestige, the players, and the profits.
In your view, do you see this as a realistic scenario? Could Nintendo's hardware evolution and Rockstar's willingness to adapt their games create a perfect storm that brings GTA 6 to the Switch 2, reshaping the gaming industry in the process?
And they only did that because they were porting it to PS4, so it was a question of "why not? It's a Xbox 360 game".
And yet you wonder why Rockstar never bothered porting it, probably because they didn't need to?GTA5 is PS360 game.
My guess is that while it is pretty trivial for the Switch to run GTAV's campaign, the multiplayer has long exceeded what they did on the old platforms and they have no desire to maintain this service on such an old piece of hardware with such a limited capability. And they decided that just porting over the campaign wasn't enough since probably 99.99999% of GTAV's playtime these days is the multiplayer. And yet you wonder why Rockstar never bothered porting it, probably because they didn't need to?
RDR1 was a port job from not long ago (2023), made by an external studio, it didn't make any sense to not greenlight a Switch version while you were at it.
I don’t think it’s far-fetched, especially since GTA 6 is the only game capable of driving hardware, accessories, and service sales for an entire generation. Why would Nintendo pass up additional revenue? Especially considering that it seems Nintendo wants to embrace the multi-platform market with the Switch 2."Is the Successor to the Nintendo Switch Engineered Specifically to Run GTA 6?"
OP, imagine you didn't start this thread. Now you're sitting there, reading on the forum and you stumble upon this thread. Would you go "Hmm well yes, that sounds entirely plausible!"

79,99€They will sell GTA 5 on Switch 2, for 70 euros.
Digital Foundry ran a benchmark using the RTX 2050 at a low clock speed and the results suggest that the Nintendo Switch 2 in docked mode will be able to run a PS4-like game at 30fps, just like the Steam Deck and ps4 does.Could GTA 6 Run on the Nintendo Switch 2?
Not the same, the memory configuration for a dedicated gaming device works different than a handheld PC, the Devs have more room to optimize games + Nvidia tech and a SoC made specially for the device. The specs could be close but due the nature of the Switch 2 as a dedicated gaming device it could punch above his weight.Digital Foundry ran a benchmark using the RTX 2050 at a low clock speed and the results suggest that the Nintendo Switch 2 in docked mode will be able to run a PS4-like game at 30fps, just like the Steam Deck and ps4 does.
So in handheld mode it has the power of an Xbox One with dlss to achieve full 1080p. Xbox One runs Cyberpunk 2077 at 18-26fps. If GTA 6 on ultra low is like cyberpunk then maybe it's possible. DLSS appears to cost 10fps to increase the resolution to 1440p, while the PS4 needs 2x PS4 to do so.
The steam deck on the 720p screen and the Switch 2 on the 1080p screen will be almost identical, perhaps the steam deck has a better texture and therefore looks better due 16gb . Switch 2 tech already exists on the Steam deck guys.
We do have some GTA specific data. In Europe, Switch was the second highest platform for GTA Trilogy, just behind PS4.Do Western 3rd party ports even sell that well on Switch? They have a massive userbase, but most of their players are under the age of 12 or are located in Asia. If you like playing mature rated games you don't play them on switch, unless you are into those hentai games. I don't really see that changing even if there will be more developers porting their games when Switch 2 releases
100% this.They will sell GTA 5 on Switch 2, for 70 euros.
4K reconstructed for sure, native res is another thing.Slightly off topic but why are poeple convinced GTA6 will be 4k/30 on PS5?. It took the OneX to run RDR2 at 4k/30. Base consoles were 1080p.
If GTA6 is a similar jump up from RDR2 that RDR2 was to GTA5 then you might be lucky to get 1440p/30 on PS5/XSX.
I think the Switch could run GTA 5 with a little work.. it's just that Rockstar doesn't give a shit about Nintendo and their audience, no matter how large. They never have and they never will..Wont mean shit for gaming industry as anyone that cares about gaming will be focusing on higher-end consoles. Cant wait to play GTA 6 in its potato mode said no one ever. Switch 1 couldnt even run GTA 5 which was by that point 6 years old, stop the cap.
