Media Create Sales: Week 10, 2015 (Mar 02 - Mar 08)

If you know how to reduce the photos I could do it. Some people like to see them, otherwise I would've stopped long time ago.

Anyway, you only will need to wait one month more since I stop posting these pics.

This helps. :p

Edit: Whoops, DP...

Well, resize, not reduce, but still, it helps a little. :)

Why are you gonna stop in a month? ):

And like Hero of Legend suggested, quoting will help reduce the size until you click on the image.

hisa-kun if you have access to a PC then you have access to a graphics editing program that usually have tools to allow for resizing of images.
*paint.net is a great freeware graphical editing program that I use. its pretty straight forward and lots of info on the net about using it. even if you do not mess with the more complex features works just fine for resizing images with no issues. not really system intensive either, so should run on most systems no problem.
http://www.getpaint.net/index.html

since I can imagine you are taking photos with your phone never use those directly as general default settings make massive images.

not sure how much it would resize it, but also using the quote tags around your images "sometimes" reduces the size a bit.

which is why you see a lot of regular users "quote" images. its done to cut down on size.

*Seems that Hero of Legend did it for you as an example of what the quote tags do to the images.

You can quote your photos to make them appear smaller. If you want to resize them, you can use an online photo editor like Pixlr. It's free.

I take photos with my phone and I update them with it too. I never use the computer for that.
That's why I see them normal too, since it fixes itself.

I will quote them in it helps.

Edit: done it

It'll be interesting to see whether HM fanbase will migrate over Popolocrois, and whether the IP will be able to attract some new gamers.

Shouldnt be too hard considering the harvest moon games of late look like ass. :/ Which has always been the huge disappointment for me with the series. If only they had a bit larger of a budget given to them for the graphical work...

Though PPC really has not been exactly a gangbuster type of IP either. Though there are fans of the series. Lets hope the combining of the genres will bring more folks together. Am personally looking forward to the title since rune factory is dead and well as mentioned the latest harvet moon titles didnt look too hot. D:

Is Rune Factory really dead? It'd be odd since the last one sold 200k units in Japan alone and was highly successful in the United States.

Btw, PoPoLoCrois might attract both sim-fans and RPG-fans; it looks like Fantasy Life aesthetically, and that sold really well.

the studio behind it got shuttered i think.

IIRC, a part of the company was absorbed into Marvelous (see Forbidden Magna) and there's no way Marvelous is going to bury its most successful IP after Harvest Moon.

thing is though series wont be the same depending on how much of the key staff left. personally a name / ip alone doesnt really make a great game.

forbidden magna was pretty bad too with both pacing and general gameplay. i "had" the game. notice the past tense used lol

Are you talking about my post?

no no, it was general cause I think it's already happened many times
and if I was referring to you i would have quoted you :)

but I have to did agree with your analysis on Chronicles 3 cause it was the first entry on Vita but it sold same than 3DS version; also considering the huge difference in the installed base I think it was a good result on Vita
to make an example it's like Gundam Breaker 2 that had sales splitted equally between PS3 and PSV

its too bad gundam breaker 2 did not allow for crossplay as do believe it would have increased the sales even moreso with how initially many fans were planning on buying both versions

I think it's perfectly reasonable to debate over company business decisions, if they might look imperfect or wrong. For example, Senran Kagura is an IP that would have worked better on PSV to begin with; on the contrary, Koei Tecmo might have invested a bit more on 3DS in terms of Musou games because of cheap development and good sales potential; then there are other factors to take into account (such as the easiness of porting from PS3 to PSV) which were indeed discussed. But when you have a platform with such a huge installed base, and with plenty of success stories, then questioning why some third parties are not investing a bit more is perfectly reasonable.

I think it's important to note that Marvelous is continuing the Luminous Arc series with a different development studio, despite that being a low seller. As Marvelous also owns the much more successful Rune Factory, I can't see that series being gone for long.

IIRC PoPoLoCrois Farm Story isn't developed internally, right? Perhaps that's a trial run for a new home for Rune Factory?

I believe Lord of Magna has the same director as the RF games. And PPLC is by Epics, who were known as G-Artists who also made every other entry.

Marvelous revived Luminous Arc with a different developer, and I can't see why they couldn't do the same with RF. Sure the staff is going to be different and is not going to be quite the same series, but I would like to give them at least one more chance to see how it turns out.

Forbidden Magna might not have been that good, but didn't Neverland go bankrupt in the middle of development and Marvelous had to make do? I doubt the next RF is going to be in a similar situation.

no offense but its because of your big ass pictures that you are on the ignore list.

seriously shit with your oversized photos got old real fast.

while its great that you want to "share" with others what cover art looks like the massive photos really is not cool at all. esp if its a constant thing.

There was no need to be so rude to hiska-kun.

I enjoy a lot his weekly reports about the new Japanese releases, undoubtedly one of the best features of these threads.

The thing is, Koei Tecmo aren't losing money or anything like that with the Vita ports, at least not that we know of. They seem to be perfectly happy with the results. Yes, Samurai Warriors: Chronicles sold well on 3DS, but as I said earlier, factors like ease and low cost to port to Vita, incentives from SCE, or many others that we probably will never know, could've outweighed the advantages 3DS has.

That said, I think Nintendo should really push for Koei Tecmo to port Hyrule Warriors to N3DS, or make the sequel for both WiiU and N3DS if they want more sales in Japan.

Yep, that sounded too rude in my head when I read it :| (I also enjoy hiska-kun's pictures and don't mind the size)

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
Man no matter how much I see those yokai watch numbers still cant believe how insanely large its gotten lol.

I still remember when the first one came out and had a real slow start then suddenly sky rocketed.

still remember too how much shit people on GAF was giving that title then BOOM lol

I like the freedom to choose, I don't like monopoly in any form
A handheld monopoly as we had until 2004 is not good, since Sony entered the market Nintendo did their best and DS and PSP are the best generation of handheld by hands down
if a publisher decides to make a game not for the main platform of the market I don't start complaining them, I just hope they make a good product, not worrying where the game will be published
if things would go as you hope (nintendo monopoly) I am not sure the videogame industry would be better, they need competition, not monopoly

Mobile is more competition than Sony handhelds ever have, or ever will, be.

Also PS4 seems to be monopolising consoles (support) and there doesn't seem to be an issue.

I agree with you but Nintendo won't have a handheld monopoly (mobile counts).

There is enough competition in the portable space in Japan (smartphones, tablets) and I also doubt you would be that "righteous" if the situation in the handheld market were reverse, at least I haven´t seen anything that suggests otherwise when it comes to consoles, actually it seems you are quite fine and happy with Sony basically monopolizing big budget projects for the Japanese market.

At this time it is quite clear that PSVs situation in Japan is pretty much self-inflicted, as seen by the lack of important 1st party support. And if you are really that interested in having options and competition, the handheld dominance from Nintendo actually keeps them operapable and gives them a chance to become profitable again after years of negative results. Otherwise they would have needed major downsizing by now. Also as seen in the last years, even with a worse performance Sony tends to get more support, while Nintendo seems to need quite a lot more to get any support. To make it short with Sony having a big advantage marketshare wise in the console market, a strong position in the handheld market on top, would actually lead to a higher risk to the "feared" monopolisation in the dedicated videogame system market.

Lord of Magna was made after Neverland went bankrupt.
They could very well make a new Rune Factory with that studio, but why they haven't, I don't know.

CyGames seems to be taking a good upturn lately. Granblue Fantasy has surged all the way up to rank 4 (that's about the million a day point) and Little Noah is off to a good start.

I figured I'd call them out in specific since they're both a notable mobile company, and you all know the art directors for the two games (Minaba and Yoshida) quite well.

oh, I didn't notice it until now...

Yeah, but superior tracker.
08./05. [3DS] Yo-kai Watch 2: Shin Uchi <RPG> (Level 5) {2014.12.13} (¥4.968) - 14.278 / 2.528.184 (-13%)
10./06. [3DS] Pokemon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire <RPG> (Pokemon Co.) {2014.11.21} (¥4.937) - 11.297 / 2.549.155 (-11%)

48./51. [3DS] Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2 (Bandai Namco Games) {2014.08.07} - 1.106 / 191.982

Nice to see it still going. I wonder if Famitsu had it higher than Dengeki or not. I'd have to look back when they both showed the game.

Edit: Here's one set from all three back on Week 38, 2014 (Sep 15 - Sep 21):

Media Create:

15./14. [3DS] Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2 <TBL> (Bandai Namco Games) {2014.08.07} (¥6.145) - 2.792 / 139.935 (-32%)

Famitsu:

10./08. [3DS] Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2 <TBL> (Bandai Namco Games) {2014.08.07} (¥6.145) - 4.782 / 141.672 <60-80%> (-34%)

Dengeki:

13./16. [3DS] Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2 (NAMCO BANDAI Games) {2014.08.07} - 3.172 / 131.739 (-5%)

As I was checking MC and Famitsu sort of were passing one another, this might be the most recent it was in the MC Top 20 for its number to show.

So I'd predict it's easily over 200k in Famitsu in that case at the moment.

I take photos with my phone and I update them with it too. I never use the computer for that.
That's why I see them normal too, since it fixes itself.

you should be able to resize picture using photobucket app, but of course as the whole app, it sucks a little; as far as I understand it's better to save as a new image instead of overwriting it

anyway, complaining about image size... in 2015 still someone using a 56k modem ? :D

Will be interesting to see when Youkai Watch 3 is supposed to launch, maybe we´ll know after the next CoroCoro magazine. Not sure if there really won´t be a new Pokemon RPG this year, but at the very least with Youkai Watch we have another multi-million seller pushing hardware sales this year..

While a launch in June would be great to mitigate the usual slow period in hardware sales, that would be just three months from now and six months after the launch of the YW2update.

If the spin-off is a 3DS game, and it is launching before YW3, then YW3 might be a Summer title with a Winter expansion following the release of the second movie; and therefore following the release pattern of the second entry.

Last Famitsu tracking has the game at 181,751 (12/28/14); it might have crawled around 200k.

GamesMaya's report

- Today, Yakuza 0 was completely victorious. The PS4 version was leading today.*
- Digimon Cyber Sleuth, as a Dark Horse, it sold better than expected.
- Dragon Quest Heroes for PS3 is still selling.

*GamesMaya reported that the PS4 version of DQH was leading the first day too, but on the weekend the PS3 version sold better.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
We'll most likely see the Youkai Watch spin-off title released in summer, and the new iteration in December to compliment the Toho movie.
