I think that was the joke. FF XIII-2 sales were underwhelming to say the least. You realize this numbers are from 10 years ago for FF11 which has become the most profit FF game ever... right?
Actually 3 versions to track. The game alone, game + usb, and hardware bundle. Plenty of room for error.Like MH Tri there were 2 versions to track, so maybe one of the trackers was really off in shipment numbers for one of the versions.
There has been no hint from either tracker if the download cards are counted or not. They've remained silent. But the lack of the usual multi-sku indicators within the chart suggests that they are not included.Everyone keeps mentioning digital sales, but I figure at least the download cards sold at retailers should be part of these numbers.
So what constitutes as a 'flop' for 2D Mario in Japan, 1.000.000 LTD?

Saying that it could do 100k for many weeks it's not an excuse, knowing the type of game and how the others did through time. It's not a flop, obviously, but I think it's really early to say it's disappointing.
But yeah, I was wrong about 350k for its second week, this is true XD
You guys forgot something, FFXI was released on the PS2 AND PC.
In the other hand DQX is being released for the Wii at it's end life cycle... still no word ( for my record? ) for a WiiU and PC versions.

In the early times, the vast majority of FFXI's userbase was playing on PS2. It wasn't until a few years that it changed to the benefit of the PC version. But of course, FFXI would have died 5 years ago if it wasn't for the PC release, so much is true.
However, DQX has always been announced for both Wii and Wii U, so even though the Wii is at the end of its life, there's already a new version of the game on the horizon. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if we are going to get a first look on it next month when Nintendo is going to reveal Wii U's Japanese launch date and stuff. At least if they plan to release the Wii U version in the first 6 months after Wii U's launch (might be possible, might be not).
I fully expect Mario sales to take off during the holiday season.
Bold prediction
The real question is: How much? There's NSMBU coming this Holiday, too.
I'm pretty sure the majority of Japanese players of FF XI still play on the PS2.
I think NSMBU will steal NSMB2's thunder going into the holidays. Either way I still feel the whole thing was a big mistake releasing them so close.
How do you mean? We dont get seperate listsing for i.e Limited Editions in the charts. There has been no hint from either tracker if the download cards are counted or not. They've remained silent. But the lack of the usual multi-sku indicators within the chart suggests that they are not included.
extralite has anticipated meYou need a 16gb memory stick for DQX.
It's even free, how can it do bad? I really hope for Sony that the Vita situation will be better next year when PSO2 will be released.Ah, seeing how big DQX did compared to FFXI, and that it seems online gaming on consoles is in a much better shape than the PS2-Xbox-GC gen, PSO2 on Vita could not be as bad as we were starting thinking.

Nintendo said:Tohoku Daigaku Karei Igaku Kenkyuusho - Kawashima Ryuuta Kyouju Kanshuu - Mono Sugoku Nou o Kitaeru 5-Funkan no Oni Training
Out of interest at such a ridiculous name, what does it actually mean?

I don't think compare DQX to FFXI is appropriate. FFXI never took off until it hit PC. DQX is exclusively on console, at least for now. It will never be as profitable as FFXI unless SQE ports it to PC too.
I'm pretty sure FFIX sold a lot more than FFXIII worldwideI don't think this is the goal. DQ has never sold as well as the FF series anyway because DQ is a japanese series while FF sells WW
You mean XI?I'm pretty sure FFIX sold a lot more than FFXIII worldwide
You mean XI?
Not even Vita can achieve that.Soooo, is there a chance that the Vita's LTD might not reach 360's LTD?? That would be insane to me.
DQIX shipped around 4.4 million units in Japan while in the west it shipped around 1 million units.Sorry I mean DQ IX sold more than FFXIII

wow, could you be more obvious that you're new to following Japanese sales trends?
The craziest title on the list for me is Digimon. I don't remember a Digimon game ever selling this well.
Is it possible Mario 3D Land has affected NSMB2 sales? NSMB2 seems to be a step back compared to 3D Land.
NSMB2 sales can definitely be qualified as dissapointing imo. Even if it had strong eShop sales, I think even best case it's probably just matching NSMB. It really should've exceeded sales of it's DS predecessor, like Mario Kart 7 and SM3DL did.
DQX Wii longevity issues probably aren't as big an issue as some think though. FFXI PS2 still represents the largest current userbase for the game afaik, and that platform's been dead for years now (and also stopped getting FFXI updates a couple years back iirc). Wii as a platform may be dead essentially, but I doubt it matters too much for what's already the best selling MMO in Japan.

Is there any reason to believe that DQ X won't hemorrhage subscribers like a lot of recent MMOs post-launch? How have the impressions been from Japanese gamers?
I think calling it NSMB2 was a mistake. Numbered sequels rarely, if ever, do as well as the originals. Should have stuck with New Super Mario Bros. It all depends on the end-game content though, and how much is there to do to pass time (besides grinding).Everyone playing in the OT likes it.

Abysmal on amazon Japan. It's the same level as FFXIV
http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/... did the same thing to DQIX when it came out.
