Wow…I Guess Sony heard that DLC can be nominated for GotY and decided to lock up the award in case Astrobot doesn’t get the nod.
And that's a great thing. I hope PCMR gets a chance to play DeS and BB remastered. From games would not go exclusive. That would be crazy of Sony. Plus if this were to happen, I really doubt FS would go under SIE.
Why didn't Dark Souls blow up the same way? They were on PC as well.No other Fromsoft game has had near the level of commercial success that Elden Ring has had despite them all being critically acclaimed, you're kidding yourself thinking being on PC wasn't a huge contributor to that.
Sony already owned anime distribution outside of Japan with Crnchyroll, funimation and aniplex. If this acquisition goes ahead they will literally have big manga and anime IPs with them as well. They have been buying so many lately, I think many are not up to date on those purchase. Sony is on the hunt for them Anime purchases
Because they got it before fucking Microsoft and tencent. Why would you celebrate a corporate consolidation my bro?
Aniplex was actually established by Sony, originally by the Japanese branch of Sony Pictures as SPE Music Publishing, before SMEJ became involved.Sony bought Cunchyroll already like 2 years ago. They also bought funimation and aniplex before that.
Why would From give a shit about Demons Souls anymore? They made Dark Souls as a successor. Why not? They would be able to make Bloodborne and Demon's souls which are PS exclusive IPs.
I didn't say it was the only reason, I said it was a huge reason which it absolutely was. Nintendo and Playstation have two completely different business models, comparing them is as silly as people who think Xbox's business decisions should be reflective of how Playstation operates. Why didn't Dark Souls blow up the same way? They were on PC as well.
Games can also "blow up" without a PC release. Otherwise console exclusives wouldn't sell over 20M copies like they do.
Also, having exclusive content is already a given it won't sell as much as it could sell as multiplatform games. Nintendo games would also "blow up" even more if they were available everywhere yet Nintendo isn't doing that.
It's about valuing your brand, moving hardware and subscriptions. Content is king.
You are missing the fact that quality sells. Your platform excuse is as weak as it gets. If you think it was just about PC exposure, you’re delusional. Quality content drives sales, and Elden Ring offered a game-changing experienceNo other Fromsoft game has had near the level of commercial success that Elden Ring has had despite them all being critically acclaimed, you're kidding yourself thinking being on PC wasn't a huge contributor to that.
That's like saying "Why would I give a shit about my old child anymore, I had a new one."Why would From give a shit about Demons Souls anymore? They made Dark Souls as a successor.
C'mon now. They would release on Sony platforms regardless since the PS market share is too big to be ignored especially when it comes to FromSoft titles.Because they got it before fucking Microsoft and tencent.
And this move ensures games will still release on ps
They would sell nearly as well as exclusives while also driving more ps5 sales. Which would ultimately make them far more money.it would be dumbest idea ever to make from software games exclusive . they sell really well as multi platfrom.
Dark Souls is a Bandai Namco IP. It was made because Demon's Souls was owned by Sony. If Sony buys From the IP used would be Demon's Souls for souls games. Why would From give a shit about Demons Souls anymore? They made Dark Souls as a successor.
If you think it wasn't a huge factor, then you're the delusional one. Quality selling via platform exclusivity is the difference between Bloodborne selling several million and multiplat Elden ring selling over 25 million in a fraction of the time. You are missing the fact that quality sells. Your platform excuse is as weak as it gets. If you think it was just about PC exposure, you’re delusional. Quality content drives sales, and Elden Ring offered a game-changing experience
FromSoftware managed to expand their audience beyond just the Souls fans with a mainstream appeal. PC was just the icing on the cake
That could be a huge deal for their storefront. Make Bloodborne Remastered, Demon's Souls Remake, and the Elden Ring their store exclusives. A lot of players would flock to them if in addition, there is trophy integration, cross-save support, and of course, the rest of the catalogue released thus far on PC.It's an overload of hopium that nothing will change.
But Sony's buying them to change things.
I could easily see them generating 3-4 billion from just From in the next 5 or so years.
I can also see them positioning Elden Ring 2 as a PS PC storefront exclusive.
Japan would not approve either one, especially Tencent.Because they got it before fucking Microsoft and tencent.
And this move ensures games will still release on ps
BB was close to 8 million sales as of 2022. That was not far from the multiplatform dark souls 3 and was more than sekiro. If you think it wasn't a huge factor, then you're the delusional one. Quality selling via platform exclusivity is the difference between Bloodborne selling several million and multiplat Elden ring selling over 25 million in a fraction of the time.
Tencent buys them - Titty souls Gaass games
Sony buys them - Woke souls with a PSN login
I look forward to Miyazaki’s next studio
You think Sony pays random companies like Square Enix for exclusivity for FF7 but aren't going to make Elden Ring exclusive? Be real.
Hur durr, no kidding. Good game, available on more platforms, sells better. What a groundbreaking observationIf you think it wasn't a huge factor, then you're the delusional one. Quality selling via platform exclusivity is the difference between Bloodborne selling several million and multiplat Elden ring selling over 25 million in a fraction of the time.
We all were all fine.I was fine with it because it meant a service I pay for gets stronger. And I've always been ok with more people playing the games, so this multiplatform strategy by Xbox is fine with me.
But Sony doesn't put their games in their service day one, and there is the real possibility they will stop having From games come to Xbox and I don't see the good in that. Perhaps one good could be that From games actually launch with a stable framerate though? Lol. But we'll see. It's not something I can worry about too much tbh.
Why would they be spun out?Im gonna laugh if FromSoftware gets spun out as an independent studio as part of the deal and Sony only buys this for the Anime.
I am more than sure that the guys from Tencent themselves don't give a damn about this. If I remember correctly, They in the top 20 richest companies in the world with a capitalization of about $500B, if they were given the opportunity, they would buy Sony and Nintendo purely for the company, but usually someone constantly interferes with their deals and blocks them because they are from China =)Japan would not approve either one, especially Tencent.
Your comment perfectly encapsulates the reaction of every non-Sony person who read this.Oh no.
The right game at the right time also needs to be at the right place, which ER was by being multiplat. If some people here can't understand that then so be it, but this is getting ridiculous because some of you are getting your feelings hurt over an objectively true statement because of console war bullshit. Would it help you guys if I said that being on Playstation was also an undeniable part of its success and it wouldn't have hit near the highs that it did if it had been PC exclusive? Because that's also true too.BB was close to 8 million sales as of 2022. That was not far from the multiplatform dark souls 3 and was more than sekiro.
ER selling 25 million does not depend on PC any more than breath of the wild does. That is Froms quality track record and making the right game at the right time.
Why would they be spun out?
They won't be given the opportunity just for the last part you mentioned, by Japan. That's the rub.I am more than sure that the guys from Tencent themselves don't give a damn about this. If I remember correctly, They in the top 20 richest companies in the world with a capitalization of about $500B, if they were given the opportunity, they would buy Sony and Nintendo purely for the company, but usually someone constantly interferes with their deals and blocks them because they are from China =)
That's why I think they stick to the tactics of slowly buying up companies through the stock market, gradually buying up controlling stakes. It's not so striking, there are chances that they won't notice =)))They won't be given the opportunity just for the last part you mentioned, by Japan. That's the rub.
PC fanboys acting like Playstation is too woke for them is hilarious.Yup because Stellar Blade was so woke with no titties
Sekiro sold more than 10mBB was close to 8 million sales as of 2022. That was not far from the multiplatform dark souls 3 and was more than sekiro.
ER selling 25 million does not depend on PC any more than breath of the wild does. That is Froms quality track record and making the right game at the right time.
I said was. Previous Sekiro numbers from around then were 5 million. BB current sales are not known. It didn’t magically stop selling after ER released.Sekiro sold more than 10m
Get ready for Elden Ring 2 with Trans flags. I'm not joking.
Oh, we all notice. That's why I think they stick to the tactics of slowly buying up companies through the stock market, gradually buying up controlling stakes. It's not so striking, there are chances that they won't notice =)))
I do believe that if Sony goes all-in with a PC storefront, they will have to make their PC strategy clearer and more consistent, ie: PC releases 6 months to a year after the PS release except for GAAS.
As I understand it, they don’t care about such trifles now, they are busy with the possibility of buying Ubisoft.Oh, we all notice.
Buying a high-end console on top of high-end PC parts isn't sustainable right now so I hope Sony doesn't make me have to choose! I buy quite a few Sony published games on PC and I hope they don't drop us like a hot potato. It's worth it just to see the PCMR stans that only play From games melt down.
Didn't realise it had actually happenedSony bought Cunchyroll already like 2 years ago. They also bought funimation and aniplex before that.
