Starting March, PlayStation VR2 is available at a new price ($399.99 / €449.99 / £399.99 / ¥66,980)

I only tried two games on PC while I still had it hooked up and both worked fine. Metro didn’t run very well on my pc weirdly (5600x/4070S) so I refunded it and got it on PS5 but I never had any non performance issues.

What OS are you running?

Windows 11. I haven't started Metro yet, so can't say how it runs. I've been playing batman and body combat on quest, behemoth on ps5 and half life on pc.
Trying not to start another game yet. ha

Same OS. Weird. I’ve thought about setting it back up (currently in a box since I was gonna sell it) to play some Alyx mods so I’ll see if I have the same issues this time as I’ve since reset my pc.

I would have liked to see a permanent price cut to 350 here, but a drop to 400 generally means that when it goes on sale, we should see the return of 350 or possibly even lower, like 300 or 250.

I still hope this is a precursor to the release of a new model with wireless features. I think the obit has been written potentially prematurely on PSVR2. It's an important year for it for sure, but they really only have to outlast the losses that Reality Labs is facing.

For those asking about individual controller sales, I think this will happen once Sony announces Sense controller support for Apple Vision.

They just had that game announced at the showcase that looked like South of Midnight that was VR ready, right? Looked pretty good. Really wish we could get HL2 or Astrobot Rescue Mission on it though. I know it will never get Batman....

This is a shame because I just bought it for full price in January, but que sera, sera.

I'd say RE4 or Village are probably the coolest experiences on the device.

You know what game I wish was on it more than anything? Triangle Strategy.

Nice. I already have one and it's great especially on Gt7. It is a nice piece of technology.
But Psvr2 for Ps5 really needs Half life Alyx to sell more. I hope Sony strikes a deal with Valve. And I hope too see Astrobot in PSVR2 mode, and games from Xbox like MS Flight Simulator, Forza Horizon, and Doom Dark age in VR mode.

This is starting to look like they just wanna get rid of it tbh.

I also think this is it for Playstation and VR.

Nah, it’s just a normal price cut

I don’t see any reason to get rid of VR on PS, it’s supported by third parties anyways

It's hard to tell if it is liquidation or not or maybe more importantly whether they'd be liquidating to clear inventory or liquidating to discontinue.

I'd think that if they were just looking to discontinue, they'd probably have gone for 350 or even 300.

It seems strategic around what they'll price a wireless model. I think Meta Quest is discontinued after this year PSVR2 is going to find itself as the market leader. A wireless model, maybe featuring pancake lenses could be a hit.

I also think Sony should explore a completely untethered model as well, but I just don't know how feasible that is at this point.

I think you're offbase with Half Life Alyx, but I don't think you're wrong with Astro Bot and Flight Simulator. Maybe not a PSVR2 mode, but a port of Rescue Mission.

I think Firesprite is being misutilized. They should be working on VR modes for existing SIE games. Namely, they should be working on an Until Dawn Remake VR mode, but they could have also worked on an Astro Bot Rescue Mission VR port. Like I think sometimes Sony struggles with easy wins.

I think they should also mend fences with ClapHanz and have Everyone's Golf VR PS5 and they should be co-funding Ace Combat 8 if they aren't already.

I returned the one I bough from Costco during that big PSVR2 sale last year cuz it gave me motion sickness that lasted for an hour afterwards, but my girlfriend LOVED it, so I might get it again and see if I can grow my VR legs.

I'd give Sony an extra $10 to make ASTRO bot rescue mission to work on PSVR2

I was considering buying one for PCVR gaming and the occasional PSVR2 game.

Price cut doesn't seem like it has reached retailers here yet, but it could depress used prices down enough.

What is the last game Sony made for this? Do they even support it?

Their VR studios were largely London Studios and Firesprite.

Call of the Mountain came out 2 years ago. Think it's probably asking a lot for a full game there, which is why I said they should have made a VR mode for Until Dawn.

They closed London Studio and probably for pretty good cause given their lack of production.

Polyphony Digital put out a massively popular VR mode for GT7.

As a result they don't really have any active VR studios, so I guess the question is do you think it would be prudent for them to force a studio to make a VR game? They probably helped fund Resident Evil VR modes. So if your idea of support is them making games themselves, but ignoring what else they do to support it, then sure.

They need to port older games over to PSVR 2 and also add (optional) controller support.

Full motion controls are a big Hurdle for entering VR gaming. Supporting controllers would make the medium more accessible.

For ports...games like Killzone, Resistance, Battlefield 3/4, SOTC, Ico and stuff like that.

I would rebuy every single one of the games listed in a heartbeat.

Older games translate amazingly to VR and gives them a whole new life.

Still needs some big games.

Not expecting anything major until Resident Evil 9 and Ace Combat 8.
Sony don't even bother to port to VR2 their FPS games from PS3 as way to fill the library with something since they don't even make FPS games anymore, but nah, just hope someone makes something good and wants to make it VR2 compatible, otherwise it'll keep collecting dust

I wondered if they would ever bother dropping the price. I believe it sold every well during the holidays at the $349 price point, so maybe they can pick up some steam.

I planned on selling mine, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. Unfortunately VR just makes me feel sick so despite just how amazing GT7 is in VR I barely use it and never actually even finished Metro despite being super hyped for it.

Weird. I never had that issue with Alyx. Mine just straight up worked “out of the box”.

Have accumulated however many games from Quest referrals, but have yet to play a single game in VR.

Get sick riding most rides that rotate, on road trips, if looking out the window while riding shotgun, etc.

So I can only imagine I'd get nauseous as hell.

Same thing here unfortunately boys, I came THIS close in getting the psvr2 during the Xmas promotion but then I remembered all the sweat and the nausea I used to get with the Psvr 1 which I sold not even 2 weeks after getting it back in the day...

VR is absolutely cool but it's not for me unfortunately, too much faffing about, needing space, sweating, nausea etc...

Shame

Is it true you can’t watch porn on this?

I guess it doesn’t matter since there are cheaper alternatives 😂
What do you mean? It's a headset not an OS/browser. If you're asking if you can watch porn on a PS5 then no you can't but you can watch whatever you like if you connect it to a PC. It's a regular VR headset.

It's been well worth it for me this gen, and I paid full price.

You need to make sure you have the space set aside near your PS5 and give it enough time to grow on you. The experiences you can have with it IMO outshine that of the best flat games.

I've owned the Oculus Rift S, PSVR, PSVR2, and a Quest 2 over the years but I probably have less than 30 hours total played on all of them combined. I think the longest that I've ever been able to play in a single moment was about an hour or so in Gran Turismo 7 and about the same in Powerwash VR since there isn't really any actual movement in either case.

In games that require movement I think the longest I can last in one go has been probably 45 minutes in Half Life Alyx. Some games I am literally on the verge of a migraine within 30. I don't really get motion sick as much as I get a searing headache (and as someone that is prone to migraines this is a no go) and my eyes kill me. Part of this I think is simply due to me not blinking enough but I get sick either way.

I know a lot of games have a bunch of things to prevent sickness like blink movement, vignette, etc but it never seemed to do too much for me. The last time I played Metro Awakening was sitting down and it still hit me around 30 minutes in.

I think the headset is amazing, and stuff like HL:Alyx is something everybody should experience at least once but I will still probably sell it.

Early on there was a moment I'd get hot in them and had to quit.. Something happened when Q2 landed I got vr legs that now can go on for hours it'd weird how it happened.

I at first was slow to get going but now I crave it, I mean I adore these games and now have hundreds of hours in my Q2, then Q3 and psvr2. The lens for me was it just made such huge differences.

I also wish we got more games like Moss where you're playing the map and it's popping out how it does, there's a ton about vr that can excel even normal played games.

I don't always need the immersion but like moss, playing and sorta seeing it like a pop up book so to speak, is so awesome.

I personally love it, I'll never stop playing VR because it's only going to get better. I mean maybe it's cuz I'm a dinosaur but to hear of the concept 30+ years ago and see it come to fruition, and how good it is right now to where it's literally here and it's great... Is such a moment for me. But don't get me wrong I will never say it'd be my main gaming but for a side style of gaming for particular games it's incredible.

Living in these worlds like Red Matter for instance, really pushed me over the top.

Just got into VR a little over a month ago. So glad I went with the Meta 3. Soooo many more good games. Only decent one on ps5 is Gran Turisomo.

Still too much for a headset that isn’t even stand alone or cordless.
I have to agree with this comment. I understand that margins are small on the headset, but that just means that Sony should have waited a few years and released a stand alone at a reasonable price when the tech was more mature (2027/2028/2029) and instead, have made a PSVR1 Lite with new controllers for $299.

Unless you have some kind of inner ear issue, you'll adjust.

PSVR was my first headset and I couldn't play RE7 more than 15 minutes at a time, and even something like Rescue Mission gave me cold sweats. After a few weeks I was fine. Can play for hours now and no after effects whatsoever. I can take lengthy breaks too, from playing VR at all, and still be fine. I think once you have it, you simply have it for good.

Both have great games and PSVR2 has Village and RE4, it also has better versions of multiplatform games.

Each has their strengths. I plan on getting a Quest 3s soon because I just got a 1,800 bonus yo! :messenger_grinning:
