The Football Season 24/25: 115 Reasons For Man City Not To Win Anything

Terrible. Relegation contenders if this continues. I guess that's one way to get the Glazers (and everyone else) out of the club.

The league table could look a lot more interesting by Sunday. Arsenal play West Ham, which would bring them to 5pts behind Liverpool. Liverpool play City at the Emptyhad which will be a difficult game (unless you're Real Madrid). This would mean if Arsenal win their game in hand, it could mean the gap is down to 2pts.

Liverpool have 8 points and a better goal difference. Arsenal now have a game in hand. It might be an interesting end but it's Liverpool's to lose.

100%, but it's going to be a better watch for the neutrals and squeaky bum time for the scouse.

I think 4 points from Villa and City away would put a serious dent in any remaining Arsenal hopes. I'm still relaxed about it.

It's been a brutal run of away games. Brentford, Forest, Bournemouth, Everton, Villa, City. That points buffer might end up being needed to maintain 1st place, but Arsenal still have to win pretty much every game to apply meaningful pressure. Beat City and I'd say it's been handled pretty well as no meaningful ground would be made up.

7/11 of the remaining fixtures after City are at home with some very winnable games in there. 90 points is still possible with 9 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss.

How long until we get big Sam in to steady the ship? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Or maybe Harry Redknapp, he can sign Crouchy, Hermann Hreiðarsson & Niko Kranjčar.

11 red bottlers standing on the pitch,
11 red bottlers standing on the pitch,
And if 1 red bottler got themselves sent off,
There'd be 10 red bottlers standing on the pitch.

We.... actually won a game! :messenger_fearful:

Looks like the bin dippers are gonna run away with the title though with the bottlers doing what they do best, finishing second.

That's a crazy red in the Palace Millwall FA Cup game. Could've absolutely fucked up the guy with a millisecond difference

EDIT - Jean-Philippe Mateta got stretchered off even though it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

I think it's the chest kick with the following leg that injured him but if that had have planted right in his face he'd of been requiring facial surgery.

Edit - They showed it again, he takes the first boot to the side of his head and the weight of the keeper to the rest of him.

Ridiculous challenge. No need for feet to be that high.

Man City have fallen so far their FA Cup game is on ITV4 later, after some darts and before "The Motorbike Show"

I was surprised the Wolves game wasn't shown anywhere. Cunha has scored a screamer and when looking for the clip on Youtube, its just clowns uploading Fifa games. :pie_eyeroll:

Yeah it's annoying especially as it's gone to extra time and now all the lower league games are over but I still can't see it.

Fair play to Liverpool on the title.

Arsenal are a joke of a club.

If City win the FA Cup and Club World Cup this will probably be the funniest season ever for boiling piss, and if the Balon D’Or winner Rodri makes a come back for April/May time I somehow fancy our chances to at least challenge.

Gap could have been 5 points but they forgot how to win.

The Newcastle Brighton cup game is pretty even, although Newcastle are the better of the two.

Next season is going to be interesting.

I feel that this current Liverpool team is the same as Man Utd 12/13, aging team giving it one last hurrah.

Arsenal might not have the mentality after several seasons on the bounce being knocked into second. Will they buy a striker? Stick with Arteta?

Man City will depend on the outcome of their charges.

Man Utd & Chelsea will most likely progress but not enough to challenge for the title.

Spurs will continue to be Spurs.

Aston Villa have hit a plateau but will compete for top 4 again.

Newcastle will compete for top 4 but not the title.

But overall, I think it'll be a lot closer and more interesting than this season has been.

This season is pretty much wrapped up though, who finishes 4th is probably the most interesting part of the league left.

^ and the 3 promoted teams will be comically out of their depth again and be relegated by the end of March.

Unless one of them does a Forest and overhauls the entire team, then yeah. Unfortunately the relegation battle will be less interesting than the fight for the top.

Burnley have only let 9 goals in so far in the Championship, it's still different gravy when moving to the Prem.

Man City need to up their game massively, other teams will raise theirs in the cup if there's silverware and potentially European football on offer (Forest will prob get that from Top 4 already).

100%.

I went to grab a drink thinking it would take a while. I actually thought Liverpool had missed the penalty when I came back

the biggest mistake United can do is to sack Amorim.

the guy is the real deal, its a shame that he has a squad of primadonas instead of football players

Agreed.

Unfortunately we have a noisy toxic fanbase who I feel are probably in their early 20s, and decided to support United because in the 00s we were the top team but they didn't get many years of us being the top team and they're too impatient to let a new manager build a team, they want instant success to "bring back the glory days" which they mostly missed. Arsenal took several years to get to where they are (second), LivArpool took several years under Klopp until they were challenging for titles, Chelsea the same etc etc. Our fanbase talk a good talk, but as soon as we go on a bad streak or don't win expected games they want a new manager, like that'll help, we're not West Brom bringing in Big Sam to save us from relegation. Give managers time. I'm not saying all were great but when ETH was sacked there was a lot of "Get Amorim" noise... And now that noise is becoming "Get rid of Amorim" ... It's shocking and I don't believe it's the older crowd who went through the dark times in the 70s-80s.

As a benfica supporter , i wish we had Amorim. Guy has integrity, knows his stuff and the way he handles the media is amazing. He talks to them as equal. When he went to united on his last press conference every outlet thank him for the way he treated them. It was really amazing to see.

He has a clear vision of what he wants for his teams and doesnt take shit from any player, u are there to play, not to fuck around.

If u want to play with him , u have to bring it in the training sessions or else he wont pick u, no matter who u are and from outside looking in (u can tell me better aince u are there) it seems united has a lot of players that are just there to play a bit and that is enough for them. They even go out partying and stuff. Thats why he immediately bench rashford. He doesnt like that at all.

Before Ronaldo went to saudi arabia there was a big rumour that he would be back to sporting for a few time , 6 months or something and Amorim said straight back that he didnt want Ronaldo because he was too big for the team.

Completely agree. The biggest issue we have is we have aging legs and people not used to his style of play (3-4-3) but he's sticking to his principles and making these bunch of overpaid idiots do what they're paid for.
Rashford has been lazy for too long and he's been shown the door, same with Sancho. Too much money at a young age has killed their hunger and their careers.
There's rumours about Mainoo and Garnacho too so we'll see what happens but we've got no money to bring in new, more suitable, players for Amorim to develop as he wants and play in the style he aims for.
I hope the higher ups give him time, they brought him in. But they already got rid of Dan Ashworth so, again, we'll see.
I like Amorim, he has personality, he has an aim and is driven to succeed.... But unfortunately the toxic fanbase and the useless United management generally have other ideas.

Also, for this game that's just been on, Bruno jumped and a pen was given because his hand was in an unnatural position (because we should jump with our hands behind our backs, natural). Yet Konate pushes a PSG player over, and isn't given a red or a pen. The quality of refs and VAR is shocking.
