Time Magazine's 10 Best Video Games of 2024

These same fuckers would place Black Desert Online's character creator in F-tier for not having surgery scar tissue.

Wouldn't be surprised if they just want the hate clicks.

What about this nugget?

Treasured magazine Game Informer was shut down by GameStop after 33 years in August. It marked a sad day for those who grew up reading the issues for the latest news, reviews, and first looks. The magazine was a staple for millennial gamers. Thanks for all the memories!

I'm probably the only one on this forum that thinks Veilguard deserved at least a top 5 score.
Very decent game. It would have been my GOTY had it not been for me trying FFXVI (PC) and Path of Exile 2.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Remove the whole Taash plot line and it would probably have been received much better here in general.

Mechanically, it's a perfectly fine game. Performance etc is actually pretty solid and it was a rare AAA release that launched on all platforms without any major issues, even PC.

Yeah I get that, I just don't understand why it's so hard to look past it.
If you think about the game from a technical and creative perspective, it was put together really well. Competent gameplay system, nice upgrade trees, good voice acting, excellent visuals, some moments where the writing was very good (OK it's not amazing all the way throughout), well built world...game has so many good things going for it, and it's decently long too without overstaying its welcome.
People seem to be very emotional about rather trivial political things. I did the various Taash quests and thought it was a bit in your face but overall I like the message, it goes beyond just trans stuff but tells people to be comfortable in their own skin and with their own choices regardless of what others' expectations if of them. Very wholesome in my opinion.

Star Wars Outlaws and Dragon Age both in the top 10 and Dragon Age #1?

DA:V is not that bad of a game. Not everyone is a rabid anti wokie who can't see past a really poor decision to put something so unneeded and divisive in a game. That said, where the fuck is FF and The ER expansion. This list is basically what this person played and actually finished, not an assessment of everything out there.

That said, I am struggling to finish the game, It has too much content just like an UBI soft game. If I played the SW game I would probably be saying the same thing. I am kind of sick of bloated AAA games in this regard.

Most of that list is fine. Just veilguard, outlaws and Lego horizon that shouldn't be anywhere near the top 10.
