Xbox refugees, will you repurchase games from your Xbox library on another platform?

Will you buy games you already own on Xbox on another platform?

I did the opposite, actually. Re-bought a bunch of games I had on PS4 on Xbox and Switch, back when we found out about PlayStation disc drive issues of the future viability.

Now I have a lot of my favorite games both physically and digitally across multiple systems.
Does Xbox still even sell a console with a disc drive? They have a series X without it now.

I've bought a few games I already owned on Xbox on PSN ON SALE since I got my PS5 pro - where there have been pro patches that offer upgrades in the graphics front
I wouldn't have bought on PSN if I'd stuck with the base PS5 and wouldn't have bought them at full price

Honestly I've had PS5 and Series X since they launched day 1

I bought significantly more for series x vs ps5 mainly due to discounted keys for games that made it incredibly cost effective and would only buy a game on PS5 where that version was the better version to play

Hogwarts was a game that I got day1 on series x and loved it and completed it there

When I got the ps5 pro I heard good things about it with the pro patch and picked it up for £20 on sale, but man the series x version is light years ahead of even the ps5 pro version and was my worst spend in probably years

Compare to Lies of P which is pretty messy on Xbox series x in fidelity and barely maintains a stable frame rate in performance mode but playing it on gamepass has been ok but I'm shit at it

Finally picked it up on sale for PS5 due to the pro patch and it leaving gamepass

On ps5 pro in fidelity mode it's so smooth and slick compared to the seties x performance mode. Which is probably down to lack of focus on the Xbox version however I consider it a significant upgrade to have the pro patch version now on ps5

Another would be Alan wake 2 - day 1 on series x and completed it there but re bought on ps5 pro due to the added ray tracing in the pro patch

However I would love remedy to get it performing better than it is

All my Xbox games are digital and will continue to play them there mostly

Personally, I wouldn't move to another platform, I am just too entrenched. For example, most other platforms have copied Xbox 360 achievements, but when I get an achievement in something like Steam it's meaningless to me, whereas on Xbox I'll actually play a game in whatever specific way is required to get an achievement.

When they shutter the Xbox console business, that's probably the end for me and (non-Nintendo) consoles.

Weird why not just move over to PS? They essentially get almost all the same games. If PS was going through what Xbox was I'd just move over to Xbox and be done with it. I don't really care which ecosystem I'm in they are essentially the same to me. I just want to make sure I have access to the games I like. Xbox didn't have access to a bunch of Japanese titles so that's why I choose PS but now they have access to most of them just missing a few more now.

Because the whole premise of this thread is conjured up in fantasyland.

  • In the emails, Sarah Bond reiterated Microsoft's plans to build new Xbox hardware focused on delivering "the biggest technical leap ever in a generation."
  • Sarah Bond also revealed that Microsoft has set up a dedicated team to future-proof our digital Xbox game libraries across future hardware paradigms to further "build on [Xbox's] strong history of delivering backward compatibility."

This is a question for those who own Xbox but have decided to move to another platform in the wake of Microsoft's decision to prioritize their publishing business. Microsoft has many options to keep you on their platform, like Play Anywhere, XCloud, and Game Pass. Their PC releases also have a presence on Steam and other consoles now, with lots of options where players can go. Of course, everyone can stick with their existing hardware - I doubt Microsoft will pull support any time soon for their playerbase, even if support for Xbox hardware is diminished in the future.

I haven't owned an Xbox since the 360, but I would love to buy several former Xbox exclusives on other platforms. I tried to think what I would do if my Nintendo or Playstation libraries were affected instead, and honestly I would probably buy some of the games again on a platform I know would have full support in the future. I wouldn't replace everything, just my all time favorite games or multiplayer games I want to ensure there is an active community to play with.
I will just keep buying the next gen Xbox consoles and play my games like normal. You were missing that option in your poll.

Yea like I said situation reversed I'd be moving over. I don't care what the people at MS say. They are constantly changing plans and if hardware sales drop even lower next gen they will bail out. Just me as a consumer I wouldn't like the uncertainty and constantly changing plans of the company. If Sony was doing all this I'd already be looking to leave. I tried PC because to me that's the best choice but unfortunately all the BS on that ecosystem is to much for me.

Those things you mention never even cross my mind, and I wonder where all of this concern is coming from (or rather, I know where it is coming from). Im feeling pretty good about my X and all of the games coming this year on game pass.

I think maybe I just don’t need a new console. If it was an Xbox and I could still collect achievements and access all my old stuff, that would be fine, but moving to a completely different closed platform - no thanks, I’ll stick to PC.

I've been slowly rebuying select games I own digitally for the One/Series X on the PS4/5.

I have over 550 digital Xbox games and I am not about to repurchase all of them.

I don't trust Microsoft any longer which has a lot to do with why I would even consider doing this. I dumped Gamepass a month ago so I'm pulling out of their ecosystem since there isn't shit worth playing on it that I won't be able to play on the PS5 down the road. If I had a redo it would be skipping the Series X. Oh well, live and learn.
