Ya, that 4-2 one is annoying. Remember to bring the Stormruler with you when you fight the boss in 4-3, so you don't have to run passed the lizard spawn to get it. Using hyper-mode with the clever rat's ring and morion blade can help boost damage if your bow isn't very strong.

Worst case scenario: The game doesn't save until you confirm the drop. So if you don't get a pure darkmoonstone on your last lizard, just quit to the xmb.

lol. i'm kind of dreading playing 4-3 later and messing up the lizards again.

Does it make sense to take MAG to 50? I feel like I could still be doing more damage with my spells. Using wooden catalyst in left hand + tons of spells, crescent uchi (+4 >:| ) / Kris blade in right, ring of magical sharpness. Will probably craft insanity catalyst this playthrough but I want to get all spells as well.

Made a new playthrough mostly dedicated to the DBS. Got called in for the Old Monk fight and found some co-op action in 1-3. Got all pure white and pure black tendencies with no trouble. It's quite different to tackle the game when you know the levels, though I feel it's really hard to get into co-op since level ranges vary wildly everywhere. Only sure bet is being 1-10 at the X-1 levels.

Also, the farming in this game is damn awful.

Ugh, used the quit to xmb trick on the 3-2 and 3-3 crystal lizards, a dozen god damn times and still did not get pure moonstone. The trick stopped working, I suppose because I picked up some old spice in 3-2 before going to the lizard corpse, as it was gone upon reloading. The one in 3-3 I eventually just picked up the chunks since I needed those too. Seriously fuck the faming in this game. Also dislike that every once in a while I have to farm souls for more grass and spice. I much prefer Dark Souls' handling of health/casts. Also in this game I don't ever have the nail biting intensity of trying to kill a boss when I'm totally out of healing items and spell casts, but some of these bosses are giving me a nice challenge in NG+. Maneater and flamelurker fights were great fun. I really enjoy how much I switch my loadout depending on what area/boss I'm facing. Two more spells for the sage trophy. Shouldn't have killed

The most common areas I've found soul signs are at the very beginning and at the very end of the level.

The most important item for a new player to find in the first level is probably the cling ring, which allows you to have more HP in soul form, which you will most likely spend most of your time in. 4-1 (first level in shrine of storms, the fourth archstone) has a crescent falchion+1, which is better than any un-upgraded weapon you start with, and does magic damage. Don't know if either of those are what you're thinking of. But definitely explore as much as you can and don't be afraid of doing suicide runs to pick up an item, because you keep any items you pick up. However, this game has an annoying item carry limit, and if you leave something on the ground and go back to the nexus, it will be gone forever. But there is another item in the first level which you can give to an NPC in the nexus in exchange for the ring of herculean strength which will let you carry more.


FINALLY got a pure darkmoonstone from one of the 4-3 lizards. Had to do the quit to xmb trick 5 times to get one, which is ridiculous. Thanks one85x for the tip of sniping them with a bow and waiting for them to go back to their starting position. One of them eventually always dove off the ledge regardless, but I finally got the pure from the other one. There's a nice boost in AR from +4 to +5 crescent. I haven't been duping upgrade materials but I duped the pure darkmoon because it took me forever to get one and I don't want to have to go through that again should I choose to forge another crescent weapon with this character.

from the first two archers on top of the wall, go past them towards the tower where you find the key to graverobber blige's cell, and facing back towards the start of the level do a roll onto the opposite wall. done right you can drop down onto the broken wall below that separates the starting area from where you find the ring of regeneration. drop left and head back (crystal lizard there so kill him if you can) to the boss room, no stingrays to worry about. as a royal you should be able to circle around the boss on the lowest platform before the floor, and pump soul arrows into his head.

Yeah, I don't really like the way it looks and i've had no luck on this character getting called into that fight. I do have the NA version but I also just picked up the chinese version.


Got pure bladestone tonight! Feels good to get that out of the way. Still have a lot of trophies to go.

Yes - it stays there until you either retrieve it or die again.

Yeah it took me a few hours over a few days to get it. I killed that katana skeleton in the secret passage... too many times. I eventually did get that darkmoonstone too so it's all good. Currently farming marrowstone chunks. I cringed a little when I saw how much I still have to do in world 5. Will probably kill a couple more BPs and then go to NG++, making things harder for myself for no reason but the game is more fun when I still have bosses to beat. Also confused why Ostrava didn't show up in 1-3. I rescued him in 1-1 and 1-2 and he wasn't there. Guess I don't be getting pure clearstone this cycle, unless I still have the 2-3 lizards left. Still haven't made a single boss weapon, maybe I should work on those. And holy crap I can't believe I waited this long to use firestorm. It's by far the most powerful attack I have.

OK, I've been giving demon's souls another crack after it absolutely destroyed me last time (couldn't pass anything past 1-1) and for some reason it's just clicked with me and now I am progressing really well.

However, my internet connection isn't great and everytime the game loses the connection it takes me back to the title screen. This is really annoying me because I like reading the messages and tips, but I keep losing progress.

I guess I should just play offline, eh?

You're not losing any progress, the game auto-saved constantly. Keep playing online if you don't mind reloading every now and then.

No.

Making some real progress toward platinum. 70% trophies..went into NG++, rescued Ostrava and Yuria, got my pure clearstone and sage's trophy. Still haven't made any boss weapons though, and now I'll have to beat flamelurker again before even starting that.

I am one BP kill away from friend's ring, I think. As I was hacking away at BP Miralda in 1-1, I ran away to re-cast second chance, and she disappeared. I didn't get any souls so I didn't think she suicided. After searching for a while I reloaded my game and she was still gone, but I got her axe drop. Looks like I'll have to fight a more difficult phantom for the friends ring...I messed up my character tendency because I did a couple of invasions.


Edit: Omg, I just aggrod blacksmith ed by accident. He's still pissed when I go back to 2-1. I just made this entire cycle almost useless because I was fucking around testing out my mew Moon Great Sword.

Depends on what you are using. I used hyper mode (morion blade and clever rats ring with 30% HP) and DBS with thiefs ring. Tried to just beat him fair a few times but resorted to the backstab tactic later on. Run away from him and when he starts walking away, follow him and backstab him. Should work with any weapon and is real easy to pull off.

The safe and fair way: use tower shield (it will block very well even his strongest attacks) or dark shield and the Dragon Bone smasher. The fight will take like 10 minutes since he is very resistant to damage but your attack will smash him on the ground each time.

When he charges up his massive AOE attack you can get a few hits in to interrupt it (run the hell away if you don't succeed, but you should be able to get a nice bit of his health). I don't use a shield in this fight, and tend to spend a lot of the fight rolling/evading/running. He often walks slow allowing you time to heal/spice/recast. If you have it and get the timing down, I found homing soul arrow works quite well (as it does with most boss fights).I find the last boss in Dark Souls harder.

Came into this thread to just complain some more about blacksmith ed being aggro'd in 2-1. >:| Only a few bosses into ng++ and will have to go to +++ to get the rest of my weapons related trophies now. Need faintstone upgrade and all boss weapons still.

I'm a heavy armored knight swinging Claymore +10. I need to get some better equipment since I've kinda been rushing through the game. Actually I'm still using my Temple Knight starting armor haha.

I have that weapon but I couldn't wrap my head around its moveset. And it's a one butt ugly weapon. But I think I'll give it an another change.

Your tip on on hitting Allant while his AOE charge was helpful since I've made it to like 10% now. But still once he gets his combo me when I'm out of stamina I'm dead.

I hate running through 1-4 over and over again...

I have a good chunk of time laid out for the month of may, that I will have tons of down time. And demons soul has just been sitting here all alone. I have maybe 3-5 hours into this game, I know I started as royalty (is that a class) and now I am dedicated to get the full experiance out of this game, I am willing to put 3-5 hours daily into this (as I have nothing else to do) so what I'm asking is this. Lay it out to me gaf, what do I do, so that I can emerge myself into this game, how should I play, what should I be doing, how do I get the most bang for my buck using the online element (since it is soon gone) don't be afraid to break it down into a list, I love lists and when something complex like this game comes around, I find it best to get a little push into it and then I really start learning. Anything anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated, I can't believe I'm actually gonna play the hell out of this thing, but with just a month left with online, I don't want to waste anytime....help me gaf what do I do to have the most fun with this game lol

Yeah pure black is easy enough to get anyway though. Just kill yourself (seven times I think) in body form in a section and it will be PB. White is harder to get and maintain.

Mephistopheles side quest. Killed the two acolytes of god in the main hub, plus a couple shop keepers, to get my level to pure black. It was satisfying to finally kill Freke's jerk assistant and patches. I'm stuck trying to find Ostrava. I think he's in 1-5, about to kill himself.

After that's done, I'll get the rings trophy.

BTW, I would recommend keeping any of the two shield-piercing swords in your inventory at all times, in case someone invades your game. Most people don't expect them, and you can just wail away. I have a faith+str build, and I run around with the meat cleaver and moonlight sword, which get a faith boost for some reason. Neither Blind nor Moonlight have much weight to them anyway.

Not looking forward to farming for some stones, but that's really all that's left for the platinum. I also haven't seen the bad ending yet, so I'll go do that as well.

Invading 4-2 is hilarious. Either the game puts me near someone right at the start or I get the ability to set up before the first fog gate.

I had someone attempt to scraping spear me (I think it was a scraping spear?) while we attempted to kill each other after I killed one of the silver skeletons and set up at the gold. I found him after he dropped from the ledge, surprising him but he rolled out of the way. Move around a bit and get back to my set up area. Like 5-10 mins of cat and mouse as I try to lure him over there and he's running away and firing arrows at me as my HP regens faster than he can hit as I'm moving around to avoid his arrows.

Anyway, finally got a silver skeleton to trigger. He runs away. Do that again two times. Finally on the second attempt he's aiming at me, skeleton hits him. In a panic he rolls off the cliff and target is destroyed and you've revived.

Hilarious.
