So you have to actually evolve your heroes to level 20 now to get a Tactical Bonus. Before, it was glitched and it allowed you to get the bonus without that requirement. Wish it stayed that way frankly. Not like it's easy to get all that hero exp just for that.

That verbiage is confusing to me. Do I need to level up the hero I want to play, or the support hero, to get the bonus? So many little partially explained thing in the game, that a slightly better tool tip would do the trick.

Holy hell this game is a goddamn mess, I have NO idea what Im doing, this game needs a ancient tome sized tutorial.

I really want to like this but all the systems and durability and ammy crafting and all these skill trees, and etc etc etc.

Its just so dense and I have figure out what the hell is going on.

I read the patch notes and like everyone else saw nothing about bases being reset. Me and my wife worked for a couple days getting my plankerton one built, this is shitty.

Didn't the patch say it was gonna fix the sorting in backpacks? I still have 5 different spaces being taken up by different amounts of powercells, really blows.

Im there with you

The thing is, it's so much stuff if you try to understand one part, there's like 4 other parts attached to it that when you learn those there's sub parts for them!

Building I've gotten great at, but my Storm Shield Defense on Stonewood looks like a fucking maze, even I get fucking confused
I just would hoard my resources, come into my base, build elaborate shit just because I'll be hitting inventory cap way to quickly
Thank fuck they fixed stacks so your backpack now has space

It's just traps for 3 levels deep and then walls galore
Someone should visit my base and see the monstrosity I created

I even did a "X" pattern with stairs, crisscrossing them lol
So fucking goofy, but it cockblocks an area!

It really feels like that the leads never said no to an idea. Someone has an idea? BOOM its in the game.

hence Early Access, it isn't even Beta

That's all fine an well but they failed to mention the one thing out of the laundry list of details that would directly affect our game, losing our entire base. I'm fine with it cause it doesn't take long to do but communication is key. This damn game has been in "early access beta demo alpha" for a long damn time yet it seems very simple things escape them, it's really bizarre.

Come now, 'early access' is an arbitrary designation Epic (and other developers) use to escape criticism while still asking for full price. I'm happy to pay and accept there could be some wonkiness ongoing, but deleting a big chunk of player progress without warning is not acceptable and makes me deeply wary of what they think they can get away with. 'But it's early access' is not an acceptable defence for a game that's charging full price.

It's charging more than full price because the game will be F2P at release.

How do you increase your Base Power Level?

And how do you increase the shield's radius? Ive seen others with super large areas compared to mine.

Storm Shield Defense "#"

Play the missions and it will ask you to upgrade your base, there's 10 levels to each storm shield base per area I think

I just finished SS3

First they come from South, now East and West!, dreading if the come North, cause nothing setup there... Yet!

Your base power level is determined by your weapons, heroes equipped, and survivors. Basically a mix of anything that affects your stats.

The base's radius gets bigger as you complete storm shield defenses, which are unlocked by progressing in the main quests periodically.

Whats the fastest way to collect resources like wood, stone, and steel?

Do you have to continuously hit your cap and then return to your base, deposit them, then go back and collect more? Is there an easier way to collect them faster?

Wish there was an easier way to start fresh on your bases. Id like to start over but its going to be a pain in the ass to destroy everything each piece at a time.

Heres some pics of an amazing Stormwood Base:

You do unlock new storm shield defense bases when you unlock each zone.

Does anyone know now where I can find the extra code to give to a friend? I got the 60 dollar version.

Should be somewhere in the main menu in game.

I hope they add some kind of free roam mode. Had some d-bag fucking go off on me because I was gathering during a mission despite the fact we easily passed the mission :/

It's really not as complicated as it seems at first. For starters just focus on the main quest and don't worry about all the systems.

You can solo missions if don't want to be bothered. Just set your session to private before you start the mission.

How do you set it to private?

The PS4 version has considerably more input lag since todays update.

Tested on two PS4s, one PRO, one regular, same for both.

I loaded the game up for 10 minutes then just closed it. It's unresponsive to a degree that I simply can't enjoy myself.

Yeah I noticed this. Just seems slightly chunkier

I agree they need to be careful about destroying something people spent a long time working on. It's ea but stuff like this could cause people to lose faith in the game. It seems to me they could have brought the bases back and just removed any areas that intersected with the world...

One of those drones dropped into a mission, so I went and built a pyramid over it. Two teammates were inside at the time and spent the entire mission running around inside uselessly as if they were trapped. They didn't leave until I edited a corner to get the reward inside. I had to wonder, did they just not realise the 'edit' function exists or were the pair of them just that stupid?

Question is there an easier way to scroll through the skill tree on ps4? Having to go one by one is annoying.

Yes, No.
---

Hey, I just notice the PS4 version of the game support mouse and keyboard. Is not very useful, because the cursor is invisible (hardware cursor?). But you can check some stuff in the menus that is not normally visible, tooltips with extra information. The skill tree with mouse is easier to use. But well, invisible cursor, so is not fully usable.

The hero in the support role for their support ability/bonus. But you need to not only level the hero to 20 but evolve it to a 2-star as well. It's a lot of resources frankly and needing 7 Lightning in a Bottle for a 2-star evolution is way too much considering how scarce they are until you can tackle several 28+ missions (I got 3 each time when I did some as 20).

Edit: Never mind. You just have to level any hero to level 10 and evolve them once into a 2-star hero. The star icon under hero portrait tells you their current star level. Funny how I just found this out.

I hope Play with Others gets adjusted in the next patch.

Annoying how it will put you in a mission way over your level or straddle you with a teammate that's too low level or even put you in a mission where you can't earn XP.

The top option does recommend you having high power, but yeah they could tweak it some.

Banging my head trying to understand why survivors drop so much in loot over characters? So much that I'm tossing most of them for XP. Characters and the support slots help in the core gameplay, the survivor slots benefit based directly on grinding to open more slots and grinding to increase your power level.

The characters have different varieties of moves and abilities to mix in match with supports, I will spend more time playing Epic's game if I have more options and freedom mixing and matching characters and playing with different set ups than I will dealing with the damn survivors. They are just too high compared to everything else.

For those saying the "early access" label is just so Epic can charge for a F2P game, take a look at Paragon to prove yourself wrong. This game will change so much before actual release. Epic has proven with Paragon that early access actually means early access, and beta actually means things will continue to change before full release.

There is something about Fortnite that I really like.

Usually I struggle with games that have a ton of different systems to level up. I don't get on with games where crafting is a main part and I suck at tower defence.

I feel it does a cracking job if introducing all the mechanics and whilst at first it seems overwhelming it soon becomes easy and logical to follow.

It could almost to with a scene or something at the start which says..."Hey! There are a LOT of menus, systems, etc, but don't worry about that for now. As you play it will all become clear and we'll introduce them when you need them"

That aside, I would usually avoid F2P games, especially ones that require a buy in for Early Access, but glad I bit the bullet on this one.

Just crashed on me and now I'm sitting here looking at Please wait and its been ages - what is it even doing RN? I can't even back out of it.

Maybe its just me but I keep running out of bullets and it doesn't even tell you how to craft them. Weird game.

The game needs a better tutorial system

If you have the resources you just hold the reload button instead of tapping it and it'll craft the ammo for you. Make sure you destroy cars and tool boxes and things when you can because it'll give you the resources needed to craft the ammo. Alternatively, you can craft it through the menu if needed as well.

Tutorial and in-game help need a lot of work.

Crafting bullets is pretty easy, though. You can do it on the fly by holding the reload key.

You can also do it accessing your inventory. There's a section for ammunition.

This game definitely needs to streamline the skill/research system and/or provide more useful tutorial information. I still have no idea what my Survivor teams are even accomplishing. And is there a way to repair degraded weapons? Or is it just once the degradation hits 0 you're out of luck? Should you recycle everything before it breaks?

I'm enjoying the gameplay loop but it's a tad frustrating navigating all this stuff.

Can anyone tell me what is the problem with my friends mission load time? For me and my other friends the missions load up pretty fast, but for one of my friend it takes a few minutes at least, and sometimes 5-10 minutes to load a map. Her internet speed is 10mb so not fast but I don't think it's supposed to take this long to load a mission.
