Well, that would explain a lot.gantz85 said:Those are its first-week sales figures. It was released on 12/25 2008 and it had one week to perform. (http://www.japan-gamecharts.com/ps3.php) puts it at 320,000 copies currently.

Please tell me how you know this so "definitely". As I said often before, the game is certainly well-made but I don't see anything all that costly in it. It should have been as cheap or cheaper to make than an average PS2 JRPG simply because of the content creation advantages of the SRPG genre.Stumpokapow said:Offchart growth switches from "decent but definitely not profitable" to "good but definitely not profitable".

Yeah. Famitsu has it passing 1 million sometime between the end of 2006 and the middle of 2007.Stumpokapow said:Well at least that settles that as a million seller, although I thought it passed a million in Famitsu last year.

Looks like the big difference from year to year is that the PS2 number plummeted, to the benefit of DS/PSP/Wii/PS3.

It's not surprising at all. The four Level 5 games are all on the most popular gaming system of all time in Japan, and three of them belong to a top-tier franchise. This leads to very long legs; two of the four games are from last year but still sold more than this year's most successful first-party PSP game.kswiston said:Anyone else find it funny that SCE only managed to out perform Level 5 by a whopping 400k units. When you are the first party Publisher/Developer for three different systems on the market, you should be outperforming a company that has all of four games to its (publishing) name by more than 30%
You forgot to mention than SCE have 25 games, while Level 5 is only 4 games.kswiston said:Anyone else find it funny that SCE only managed to out perform Level 5 by a whopping 400k units. It's still a port of a 4 year old game, MH3 demo and the series growth will help some what, but I don't think it'll be that significant. Whatever happens, it'll be a good indication for the upcoming game.jeremy1456 said:Monster Hunter has grown significantly more popular since the first one's release, and you have to figure in that it has a demo for MH3 included.

How? If bucket loads of people buy MHG for the demo, it shows MH3 will be huge, if they don't then everything's status quo.jeremy1456 said:I edited in what I think it'll do overall.
