Can anyone clarify (or post a link) on how spawns work and how the pokemon variation from them is determined? Think I read here that player activity doesn't influnece spawns, but I have noticed something at my work place. In the early weeks of the game a rare Pokémon would occassionally spawn. There was a Wartortle and even a Muk once. The last few weeks though the variation has decreased. I'm usually surrounded by birds, rats, bats and caterpillars now. What sucks is that there are a bunch of spawn points in this short range, but only crap spawns. It's weird because it used to be different. Is this because they change the algorithms sometimes, like when the nests reset? I have no clue how this works, but I'd welcome the variety I got when the game launched.
You know, I really do think that player activity (or just cellphone use) affects the spawns. Spawns have somehow been even worse, and I have had to rely on eggs more than usual.
I'm mainly just farming Machop and Dratini at this point. I'm 31 Candy away from Machamp and 51 away from Dragonite. I've already caught Machoke and Dragonair, and evolving those would reduce the needed candies by 25. I don't want to evolve Stage 2's with crappy stats, though.
I got screwed with the move lottery today. I was unsatisfied with the movesets of my first Nidoking and Nidoqueen, so I finally had enough candy to get a second one of each. I really just want them to be attackers, because we all know they are horrible defenders. The only thing I really want on both of them is Poison Jab. The charge move doesn't matter to me.
My first Nidoking had Fury Cutter and Megahorn, and the second one gets...Fury Cutter and Megahorn. My first Nidoqueen had Bite and Stone Edge, and the second one thankfully gets Poison Jab and Stone Edge. The second Nidoqueen turned out amazing, but the Nidoking result is disappointing because I got trolled.
I finally tried getting a good Dewgong. I had already caught 32 Seels and 5 Dewgongs by this point, but I had apparently never hatched a Seel until today (it only took 320 eggs!). I just wanted Blizzard, but I got Icy Wind. I will just have to wait until I get a few more with good stats. Wild ones never gave me good stats, so it will be a while.
The biggest upset was the second Gyarados. I had a 100% IV Magikarp. It only had modest CP, but my plan was to invest all future Magikarp Candy into the Gyarados if it had Hydro Pump or Dragon Pulse. Dragon Pulse was preferable, because I already have an offensive Gyarados. After another grueling round of getting Magikarp Candy, I evolve the perfect Magikarp and get Twister. It sucks hard, but I can live. I can't even image how crushing it is for those who got more than one Twister, because these things take forever to get.
