Take Two: GTA6 Switch 2? Publisher pledges full support says era where Nintendo was for kids is over

the controls have a lot to do with that. and 2.5 to 3 hours under heavy load is respectable still, wtf?
DLSS will hard carry Switch 2 so even if its less powerful after the underclocks its probably still gonna do well. enough for GTAVI anyways, maybe after a year of optimizations & port work like PC
I get no more than 2 hours on Sea of Thieves on my brand new Deck Oled and that’s a game that runs on Xbox One.

youre either cranking the settings up too high or SoT has some serious optimization problems.

fair enough, though.

either way gtavi still coming to switch 2 (and deck 2 when it gets launched, too bad itll be the last Steam deck model ever made)

Bloody hell - now Trump’s at it - they all are!

What’s the negotiating ploy here - make out GTA VI can run on the switch then reveal that a GTAV 1080p remaster is coming when there is a user base!

They didn't support the Switch 1 but this time it's different, right?

Right?

That remains to be seen but we know the technology in the Switch 2 based on the famiboard leaks. All I’ll say is it’s going to be underclocked for battery life and it makes no sense to me that Valve revised the Steam Deck last year and couldn’t make it as small as the Switch 2 nor give the thing a respectable battery life still. Logic dictates to me that with the Switch 2 size it’s still not going to be as powerful as a Steam Deck,
The motherboard photo almost confirms the spec leaks… and even the GPU underclocked is above the steam deck in the handheld mode.

They'll probably want to get GTA5 and GTA Online on the Switch 2 ASAP. Pretty big potential revenue stream there.
This is an early April fools bit.
With GTA5 (PS3) rendering at 720p on a TV screen you can barely see some in-game pickups.
In particular dropped wallets, money and guns have a tendency to be quasi invisible if you don't already know that they're there.
To work on an 8in 720p Switch2 display GTA5 would have to be totally overhauled.

???? We don't know the display resolution of the screen that the Switch 2 will be using. Anyway, there's already a last-gen version that they can base the port on, and it should work excellently on the Switch 2.

Never tried GTA5 on Steamdeck?

GTA 5 and RDR2 bigger? Possible. GTA 6? Very unlikely. But hey, the former two are still great games.
I see GTA 6 more likely than GTA 5 or RDR2, not even the PS5 and the Series got a RDR2 proper ports, GTA6 along side with the PC version a year later than the PS5 and Series ports, and if the game is delayed to the next year could be day 1 on Switch 2.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
if gta 6 works on switch, means it will be 60fps on console, believe it!

Nintendo is and will always be a kids console producer.
Nintendo's blatant pandering to young children will come back to haunt them when big countries with failing public schools (USA) go looking for a scapegoat to explain why so many kids are idiots.
The overpriced cardboard box projects and trying to trick schools into buying kids Switches looks bad for a platform making lots of money from F2P games also blatantly aimed at young children (Fortnite).

Weird thread. Like a reverse port begging thread. GTA being available on switch 2 doesn't diminish the game people.

With the cost of games going up, and costs in general spiraling out of control in the industry, any company willing to abandon a massive potential user base, is out of the question.

If any popular game runs reasonably well on switch 2, it will sell a ton of copies. I think a lot of this comes down to Nintendo, and their online service.

If nintendo can get back to getting major multiplatform releases, they can definitely leach players from sony. Xbox just needs to die and stay dead. Those players have to go somewhere. The possibility of cross-shopping ps5 and switch 2 opens up and the game changes.

The truth is a dangerous thing.

I wonder what the narrative will be when this comes to NS2 and is fine?

"The mouse support was ass, I don't know why Nintendo even bothered"

Same shit we hear every gen before a new Nintendo system. I've learned my lesson. It will be limited 3rd party support as always.

Is it really so outlandish to think the Rockstar gods could get this game running decently on Switch 2, considering they'd only have to render it at 720p in handheld mode and can forego unnecessary shit like raytracing?

They won't even have to render it at 720p if Switch 2 has DLSS. They'll probably render it at like half that and then upscale it. It's not going to be pretty, but I played The Witcher 3 on my Switch even though it looked like a fucking oil painting that hadn't fully dried, so I don't care.

While I have no doubts GTA 6 is coming, this is also true. To be fair, switch was way better with 3rd parties and software but the gap was still significant. The days of cant port based on specs are over. There are no more compromised visions with todays technology.

But I also remember the EA/Nintendo “unprecedented partnership” so you trepidation is not without reason.

totk has the best phisics and world simurlation made on crud hardware
Lmao npcs behaviours in that game are beyond basic and you can barely interact with them, you have no idea what you are talking about, gta6 has to render a realistic city with hundreds of npcs and cars, zelda can have that amount of physics because the graphic fidelity is absolute crap and the world is generally pretty barren.

Noita look even worse and it make look the physics in zelda like child play, it is not black magic.

For the love of god no, an existent sw2 version only mean that they dumbed down physics and world simulation to accomodate a fucking tablet cpu.

I sincerely hope this is not true.
Fully agree GTA6 is one game I don't wanna see getting downgraded cause of Nintendo's underpowered hardware.

People are gonna tell you that everything is scalable while forgetting that on pc you literally have minimum requisite for games so no, not everything is scalable, if they develop gta6 with sw2 in mind this is definitely the worst timeline ever.

Buy a fucking modern hardware if you wanna play cutting edge games, not a damn tablet :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I think they'll bring older titles to switch 2. There's no way GTA VI is coming.
