Fortnite |OT| Earliest Access VS Husks

Idk man it gets crazy higher up, plus the area is always littered with BEES

Always have a ranged weapon as well for sticky situations. I guess as a ninja it's a bit easier I tend to shuriken bees or once you get a level 2 ninja their phantom sword dash makes short work out of all the skinny husks

Hey GAF. I just got started with this, and I'm a little confused. So I got the Hero pack. But then when opening a Llama I realized there was an "epic" version of one of the heroes. Now I'm wondering, why should we bother upgrading our basic Hero card, if there exists a rare or better version of them? Does all the upgrades in the Skill tree carry over if say, I get a Rare card later down the line of my Hero?

If you Retire a hero, you get back 90% of its total XP. So you technically invest little when upgrading heroes unless you evolve them, as you don't get back any Pure Drops of Rain or any other materials consumed for evolution.

This thing is just melting everything atm. It reloads super fast so the low ammo count hasn't really been an issue:

I got this schematic early on and even though I've gotten a few others one since I always go back to it. My stat bonuses are a little different though. I got 10% damage, fire rate bonus, another fire rate bonus, crit damage, and then my last one once I evolve again is another damage modifier. At first I was kinda ticked at getting two fire rate bonuses on a burst fire weapon cause the actual burst were pretty quick already. But i found it actually reduces the time inbetween burst so it's essentially a full auto now if I hold down the trigger, but yea the 15 round clip kinda sucks. But like you said, it melts everything.

ammo is a problem which epic should redesign, I'm investing so many ressources just for ammo.

Destroy all cars and appliances and you'll have 5 stacks of 99 in your inventory in no time! Also keep a decent melee weapon schematic upgraded. It's nice for when you drop into a cave and have a handful of husks or come across an encampment will save you a ton of bullets in the long run.

Yup, I should destroy more cars and explore more caves
I'm power rank 20 but the game won't get easier

In addition to what Wallach said about retiring them, you can put heroes along with their XP into your collection book.

Hero/item XP counts toward the collection book level. You can add it after the fact as well.

Has anyone dabbled in mixing up their survivors? I had a buddy of mine tell me that personality matches are more important than job matches, but I'm not sure that's true.

After going back through my squads, to match up whatever personalities that I could, each of the FORT attributes went up 2-5 points, but several of my bonuses (5% health and 5% base damage) disappeared.

So now I'm still not sure which method is better. Anyone have any insight?

I haven't found personality matches to be very important, but I'm not sure if there's a big bonus at 7/7.

The bump to each individual survivor seems small and never enough to choose it over a card that naturally has a higher rating or matches the bonus you're targeting.

If you don't have a job match, then match personalities.

Really impressed with this game. Didn't realize it was in closed beta though. At least that is what it says on the loading screen.

Yeah, it's a really solid gun. I got in a the special weapon llama a couple days back with a legendary Triple Tap sniper. Needless to say the sniper is conpletely useless compared to this gun.

Really want to get my hand on a legendary explosive weapon now.

They have to make husk drop stuff, absolutely insane that they have close to no value, later in the game where there are areas just spammed with them, its just annoying because you get nothing out of fighting them beyond obscure quests and the combat medal.

I quit using ARs and my ammo worries went away...I have like 1600 Sniper bullets and 1000 slugs at all times, lol.

AR's can be pretty costly. I got pretty lucky and got a decent one that fires in bursts, hits like a truck and has 20% reduced degredation but even then I can burn through a good supply in a few missions easily. I find the Magnum-like handgun is also a great way to conserve bullets too though and damage goes pretty high. Swords might be the best solution but it's a risky move unless you go ninja.

Vaguely interested in this but have a few questions:

How is it on PS4 pro?
when buying the standard edition, will there be an advantage when the game goes f2p?
Is it ok to play with randoms? Do I need a mic or can you cooperate without it?

Thanks

I don't think the Pro patch is out yet, I only have a regular console so I can't answer that.
There are Founder schematics that you can get now, that won't be available late, not sure what other bonuses for Early Access.
You can play with Randoms, it will be needed for higher levels unless you have enough friends to help you. A mic isn't necessary, there's the in game text chat if you need something.

Man, just wasted so many resources/ammo on a double ATLAS mission. The storm was all coming from one direction, all we had to do was stay in that area and slay, but the randoms were all spread out doing who knows what. Then one leaves and another guy just AFKs inside the ATLAS room, ugh.

I think that's one of the things they got right. By keeping the combat free of reinforcing the constant lootwatch, it's easier to focus on accuracy and situational awareness rather than picking up random shit up in the middle of it all. The objective should take priority over just killing and collecting, but things should also be much better with the predetermined rewards for completing bounties/missions.
