I think the game is balanced to work with randoms.

Today I played with a static team and it was ... strangely uneventful.

is there a secret to ammo?

I'm constantly running out of ammo in a mission and I don't have the resources to craft new ammo even though I'm running around looting everything :(

It's a pain. What I usually do with my friends is take turns using melee weapons for a mission while building stock on ammo. Otherwise, just make sure you loot every single ammo crate you see. It sucks.

Finished level 10 stonewood defense, that was crazy. Near 1000? husks each wave, so much lead wasted, I had so good defenses but on the last two they attacked from an unguarded section, I thought they would come from the previous location I fortified

It felt like the battle of Helms Deep. TAKE OUT THE GAS TANKER! Then my walls flew apart, oh god it was all glorious

Hit any appliances and mechanical things like generators in houses. Stoves, refrigerators, TVs even kitchen counters etc. They will give you nuts and bolts. People say to break cars but the appliances break faster and give you the same or more nuts n bolts. Then you will have plenty for ammo crafting.

Really not looking forward to that one at all. I did 7 and had to rethink everything after. Now I've spent an unfathomable amount of mats creating death tunnels at every entrance and am faced with the challenge of building 100 bazillion traps.

I really wish it would just let you search for players until you get a match instead of having an arbitrary timer. I always manage to jump into ones with a full team or a trio, yet I go through the first wave or 2 thinking someone will show up and it just never happens.

ill help if you on pc?

I just ask on global until I get a 4 man for those last two defenses and give premissions for repairs and B.A.S.E

I'm having an issue with the PS4 version; I bought the standard founders pack and downloaded the game, but upon launch it asks me to buy a pack or redeem a code. What gives? I already bought a pack and have no code?

I don't think so. I upgraded to Ultimate, so I have all of them, and they're all like this.

The only difference between the male and female is the character model.

Looked into it. Seems like they changed/nerfed it close to release. The outlander/soldier/constructor classes all have a different subclass and pretty different appearances between male/female whereas the Ninja has the same subclass and basically just a gender swap for the skin.

I juggle between both pc and ps4 but thanks may have to take that offer sometime, though I'll be busy with farming again for quite a while it seems as I used a lot of vital resources.

Need to grow my stash or I'll be without weapons in a match or two.

What resource are you usually missing? I find it's usually nuts and bolts, which I farm in industrial or city zones. Every mechanical object drops them. And parking meters in city zones usually take 1-2 hits and drop them. You can get a ton of nuts and bolts in a short period of time if you know where to get them.

edit:
I think I'll update my tip section in the OP, it was going off memory from a few months before in the alpha.

These Siphons are a pain in the ass, they have so little health! I managed to get one done because someone actually helped. The other times, no one helps, or starts it before even building a defense. Just wasted a bunch of mats trying to fortify the area because it had 20% health left on part 3 and some guy that wasn't even helping just starts it and a bomber instantly kills it, uggggh.

Now wait until somebody quits it for you because they activated the wrong side.
It was one of the worst quests i've had. Eventually had to type to people to get it squared away.

Man plankerton is getting tough/annoying. Especially when its just me and a friend and the third guy is off not even helping. So frustrating, and now there are two atlas's to protect. Loot is good though and I love the new homebase area

It's around this point where the AOE stuff starts getting really annoying. Since some of the most annoying ones are fodder compared to the other threats doesn't help either. You'll be killing a swarm of lobbers only to realise an army of the bee guys have just zoned half the base.

Hopefully the playerbase starts to pick up on the importance of death tunnels soon since it's heading towards the point of needing them.

I hope so man, game really needs a vote to kick. I'm tired of people messing around gathering mats and chasing shit around the map when me and another person are trying to defend. Shit just sucks.

How do you ensure the mobs enter the death tunnels?? The zombies seem to just do whatever the hell they want as far as movement??

There was a theory that they avoid heavy upgraded areas and head for weaker sections

So you can upgrade sides and leave center weaker?

I find it better if all players pile up

Look for slopes and stuff that will naturally funnel the enemy and build a death tunnel at the top, or just build outward from the base creating tunnels around it. Some layouts I really struggle to build them on though and does go wrong sometimes. Still trying to figure out what makes them choose the shorter path rather than the path of least resistance sometimes.

It's because V-Bucks on PC cannot carry over to PS4 or PC to Xbox One. On PS4 and XboxOne Sony/MS get a % of the sales of V-Bucks while on PC the sale wholly goes to Epic. They don't share because Epic would get into some major shit if people were buying all V-Bucks on PC and then using them to spend on the other consoles.

To note it was the exact same for Paragon. Only way I could see them circumventing this would to have the V-Bucks that you earn in game and from missions be a different type of earnable currency that works the same way as the premium currency but since it is just earned and not purchased it could be shared. Something that I doubt would be high on their priority list.

Goddamit fuck. Would have hit 1000 vbucks for the next 1k llama.

It's nearly impossible to test it for sure, but it really seems like the Husks figure out which route would be shoptest, including paths that involve destroying stuff. So if the fast route is going right through a wall, they will. if the fast route is to take your nice death tunnel, they will.

I can show you a build pattern we use to block off areas in a bit.

They definitely make evaluations about route health. I soloed the first two Plankerton SS defenses almost without firing my gun; the third wave on the second mission required my weapon because I didn't have room to build out far enough and there was a particular tile close enough that wasn't thick enough to deter them into my tunnels. They also spawned so close in that wave that I needed to deal with lobbers by hand. Everything else happily wanders into my death factories.

Folks also seem to be understanding better mission fortifications, at least in my random groups in Plankerton. Was able to have a couple groups set up nice trap fields rather than just load the van or Atlas with walls.

Did my first playing tonight and thought it was pretty good. Did my first co-op game though and really liked it. My only complaint is the tutorial is threadbare and the UI is atrocious.

Still, happy that I gave it a try.

Seeing V-Bucks as a timed reward for doing missions on map for the first time. Have seen 15 V-Bucks so far not bad seems to be new haven't noticed that before.

Protip.
When pushing the bomb to a place, be sure to put up defenses at the place.

Would have been nice if the game mentioned that tidbit before the clusterfuck.

There is a skill called supply crate that spawns in some wood stone and metal.

run around the map until they spawm, you'll see a yellow exclamation point on the map

They'll be marked as Yellow Exclamation Points on the map if someone goes near where they are.

Thanks everyone! I think the game glitches and kept automatically giving me ride the lightning when that map doesn't spawn any supply crates. I choose rescue the survivors and they showed up.

Alright, this is the best way I've found to absolutely stop husks from taking a route.

m8PVMsn.jpg

My outpost is the pyramid on the right, the spawn would be near the unbuilt outpost to the left. this includes a raised area to the rear of this photo. The metal section is forcing those husks to drop down to a lower path where the rest of them spawn, and then they all share one death path from right around where those push walls are.

You basically want to build a wall, then a half ground piece(which creates a small wall), then a backwards full stair(so they break it rather than walking up it, then repeat as needed. I usually do it two tiles deep, across the width of whatever path i'm blocking. On the path I want the husks to take, I have NO walls until the very end.

Another angle of that same approach from where I would stand to defend it

The second stack of crap I have built there is because the norther spawn to this pyramid also liked routing enemies around that far edge and I got tired of it. Here's what the other side of my pyramid looks like.

I could probably solo plankerton defense 3 with my setup. I think the most important thing is never having critical walls built in ways that don't give you a field of fire covering them. I see people build ledges all the time, but they have to jump down every time a zombie gets under their perch. this applies to missions as well as your home base. It's also why i like pyramids when possible. You can cover a lot from the peak.

Edit: One last shot of that first area, from the husk spawn.

The only real threats are the propane tank guys, and the ones who charge through walls. Always snipe them first. After that, kill the lobber chicks and ghosts.

Had a mission where the objective spawned on the edge of the map right near a cliff. Crazy fun, built some traps to push husks off the map and towards the end a smasher charged me rammed me off the cliff along with himself killing us both.

Ok, stupid question time.

I originally got the $60 version of the game. Last night I upgraded to the next tier. One of those perks is the extra 50 inventory slots. However, when I go into a mission I still only have 55 slots in my inventory. I'm sure I just need to activate the bonus somewhere from one of the menus, but for the life of me I can't seem to find it. Can anyone answer this noob's question? Thanks.

My favorite strategy now for defense shield bases is to create long routes where theres one wall in one side with a push trap. And a hole in the other side. Nothing stop the mobs from walking from where they are to where they want to. But they are going to be walking forever falling to that void.

This plan is not perfect, has these traps have a limit of use. But they deflect a lot of the infantry horde, so I can focus on the specials.

Push trap = awesome

For moving around the base, I use the jump pad. We could dedicate a entire week to the jump pad and it will not be too much. Is a awesome tool.

Player Jump trap = awesome.

A reason to not use doors but instead use jump traps, is that creating a door in a wall make it weaker, less hit points. So it will be attacked more than other walls. And since you can't put a trap in a wall with a door, they will end destroying that wall. By not having any weakness, the husk will be forced to attack a wall with traps.

That is your storage inventory space (which you can access in the main menu and holds your blueprints, defenders, heroes, survivors etc.).

Backpack storage is something else and can be upgraded through the skill trees.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
I hope they look into the energy system more, feels really weird/unnecessary to have it tied to mobility options. Sucks to sprint and double jump as a ninja so you can't even use your ability which is already on a cooldown.

Does anyone know where "shockwave" is on the skill tree? I can't seem to find it anywhere! Also, is it worth levelling up a Epic hero? Or should I just stock pile my hero XP until I get a legendary.

Never heard of it for the skill tree. Is not that the skill that some soldier heroes have?

Are you talking about that flag constructor place that health buildings?

It doe show up on my soldiers skill tree, but say's its locked. Even though I am past level 2? Maybe it means the 2nd phase of hero levelling?

It knocks enemies around you back.

If the skill/power has a 2 in a white star, it means that skill is not available until you evolve that hero to star level 2.
