Has anyone else noticed texture issues with this on PS4 or PS4Pro? The textures just seem to drop in and out randomly on the pro for me. It will be at a perfectly fine rez and then I'll whack something and the textures might randomly revert to something heavily pixelated.

Happens to me every once in a while. Just assumed it was the unreal engine doing what the unreal engine has done for years now.

Just to be clear, it's possible to upgrade from the basic game to the deluxe editions in-game? No mark-up or weirdness?

My kid wants the game for his upcoming birthday, trying to figure out if a cheap Xbox code for the basic edition + then an upgrade is viable.

Yeah, you can upgrade in-game at no additional cost (only the difference between the packs). If you're on the fence, starting with the lowest tier to get a taste is totally viable.

I am having so much fun with this game...until I have to do a Storm Shield. Then it's just downright demoralizing seeing everything I've built being destroyed. Granted, I didn't realize when I started building that my stormshield would continuously grow outwards but I honestly don't know people build so much in their base. I constantly run out of resources and ammo while trying to defend.

Personally when hit 999 mats I go back to base and burn it all on death tunnels and upgrades. It will take a couple matches to build back up again though.

Try to pick and choose weapons you can make easily rather than ones with harder mats to find. Pick guns with high DPS but low ammo consumption, make a mean melee weapon etc.

The real battle for me is making all the traps. I can consume way too many mats on some. It's best to have a lot of schematic so you can choose ones that don't ask for rare mats. For instance I only build traps from simple mechanical parts, rusty ones are too hard to find and my rifle used 24 a go.

Core gameplay loop is great imo.

The game definitely does need some balancing, but I wouldn't call it a paywall since most of the materials causing the issue aren't available in the llamas or at least not at a high rate.

But yeah, if you're on the fence, I'd definitely wait for it to go F2P.

The more I play, the more the systems reveal themselves to me, the more fun I have in the part of the game that ISN'T fighting husks. I love this game and I hope they can make the interface and systems clearer. This is a winner.

I'm not really bothered about cross-play. I'm more in the same boat as diablos991. Ideally, I'd be able to play PC/PS4 now, but transition to Xbone once the X is out. Not sure if this is possible.

This is further complicated by the fact that when you go to purchase on the epic website, they ask for region/platform. So are the keys region locked, too?

Cross save is the important part. The Xbox character cannot be played on PC and vice versa.

Just because somebody came up with a wonky workaround to get a PC friend in their party is a far cry from cross-buy and cross-save.

Right now PS4/PC are the only two that integrate seamlessly.

I wouldn't call the PS4/PC implementation seamless, but it works both ways easier than with XB1/PC.

As for cross-save being more important, that's up for debate. Great if you use it, but a lot of people are more concerned with playing with each other.

Yeah, the core loop is pretty fun so far. Almost done with Stormwood with just two shield defenses left. Those are the hardest things about the game so far so I'm dreading them.

Also, still can't decide on which weapons to upgrade as I have a ton of schematics now.

For a guy who usually hordes his ammo and stuff in survival horror games this game has been a bit of a nightmare, lol. I'm always out of backpack space.

I use a non-scoped sniper for that. Get the Husks into a long hallway and pop several at once.

After evolving my Dim Mak to two stars, and upgrading a few melee weapons to 8/10-10/10, I'm loving the ninja game play. It was the one class I had no interest in leading up to it, but after unlocking smoke bomb/shadow walk (or whatever it is called where you gain defense and become harder to see after getting a kill), I CHEW through any of the big monster types. I thought the ninja hype was overblown; I made a huge mistake.

prioritize the epic, you can level up the rares for expeditions

Look for exclamation marks on the map. If the game automatically picks the same mission over and over again and you aren't finding any, pick a different mission from the map and see if you find them there.

I'm quite enjoying this game, but damn does the design make for an exceptionally good commons dilemma simulator. Especially destroy encampment missions. I've come to expect at least 25-50% of the playerbase to be useless, selfish assholes at all times.

Really hope something is added to individually reward (and hopefully prompt) teamwork and participation.

lol, been playing one that focuses on the dash attack with swords, and goes shadow form constantly. I'm the opposite where I can murder swathes of smaller husks, but some of the bigger ones I have to swap back to a gun occasionally. If you can get a team to coordinate, it works great.

I know what you mean, I had some players who have done some shit and ruined the whole game/defending.

Right (as far as I know). The stars are their max level x10. A five star hero can get to 50, a three star only 30 (but that ain't bad for quite some time).

When you do a quest with a friend does it only count as completed for the person who hosts the party? My friend and I did the quest "Before and After Science" and it didn't get marked as completed for me (even though I did it) so we had to redo it

Easiest way to do it is to find the radar dish and build it. Then deposit the blue goo to reveal the trap parts on the map I believe.
