GAMEPUMP - Service cancelled, everyone refunded + 2 bonus apology games

If everyone joins me on my crusade of spamming their feedback form and their twitter with requests of Level5's Guild games, like CRIMSON SHROUD, then we might make Gamepump a worthwhile venture after all! C'mon! Who's with me?!

Now this would be a pump worth pumping.

I don't want to use GOG. I mean all my friends use steam and my whole community is there, and I don't see why I should have a second app installed just for a few games when my whole pc library is on Steam.

Really disappointed by this. I'm not sure if I should refund or not. The two free games is great, and the deal 20$ for 13 games is really good. I'm also a fan of retrogaming and old classics, but this not having on Steam is really not acceptable since they promised they would give steam keys. They could just have said that at the beginning or at least in the last two months. I can't understand how they didn't know about this (or discovered this before) and the difficulty on getting released on Steam. What did they do in these two months since I subscribed? It look so amateurish that they didn't know about Steam release policy until now.

They really shouldn't have advertised as steam keys/games if they weren't sure they could publish games on it.

I mean, you can fight this all you want but in the end you will either get the games or get a refund. Sometimes certain fights aren't worth having imo

and as far as friends being on Steam, I highly doubt ANY of these games will have online multiplayer support. Local at most.

If they're GOG versions, can't you still make shortcuts to them in Steam and have the overlay working?

Not sure if the overlay will work, but yeah gog versions are DRM free so you'd be able to link the .exe easily and even make your own banner if that matters to you

I think it's fine for people to be peeved because they prefer Steam versions (achievements, cards, +1, whatever logic they use)--but my thing is that I don't think this move makes there less likely to be Steam versions or really changes anything about them. Let's say they never resolve the Greenlight issue and every Steam key comes 3-4 weeks later than the GOG key.

Okay, and? So your March to March subscription functionally becomes April to April or your July to July subscription becomes August to August? You're still getting the same games and features, you're still presumably getting pretty comparable resale value on the keys. I guess it's annoying to get the email saying that Yoshi's Safari is the game of the month and have to wait a few weeks, but you'll get it in the end. I don't think there's any real credible fear that something won't get through GL. And that's the worst case scenario.

There is still no exact process to becoming a publisher and anyone banking on it happening at a specific time, especially from game 1, is extremely naive.
I'm not saying it isn't, but no one should have the assumption that every game is going to have to be greenlit either

It's not about multiplayer, it's about: achievements, cards, increasing exp on badges, having steam cards (which in turn make me earn money by selling cards and save on future purchases), being able to do screens and save them to my steam account for my friends, being able to use steam overlay, having chat my friends easily without external programs, having access to a discussion board on the game easily, not having further programs (which I wouldn't use) installed on my laptop cluttering it, using big picture, sharing my activity with my friends on steam, and a lot of other things. I mean just with cards by trading them I make quite some money, something that I don't have with other programs.

Does anybody know if the steam overlay works for all non-steam games? At least having the steam overlay wouldn't make it too bad, even if it's missing the other things. I've never used it on non-steam games.

Let's hope they answer the message I sent them (to Gamepump) asking for clarifications. I tried asking if it is certain that every game will be greenlit eventually, and how long it would be. I mean is there a risk that games won't be greenlit? Also having to wait 1-2 months between steam and GOG is not a problem for me (but it would be probably for my friends), but if it's 6-9 months of wait, then it's not not ok. Also what happens if I choose to receive only steam keys, and one of the games is not greenlit in 5-6 months, will I receive another game or be partially refunded? Or will I have to forfeit that game? I wish they would explain that in their email.

I open Overwatch through Steam and can use the Steam overlay within it. This includes chatting with friends and taking screenshots. The screenshots can also be uploaded via Steam. So the overlay definitely can work with games that aren't Steam native.

Ok, then it's not too bad as long as the overlay does work. I've never used it on non-steam games so I didn't know. If it works, then it's ok. Will still suck for the lack of all other features, but at least it's not too bad.

Yeah, there really isn't. The upvotes from subscribers alone would be enough for the games to make the cut. You'd just be looking at a timeframe better measured in weeks (i.e. being processed as part of a batch, as Voodoo Vince was) than days (i.e. being hand-picked, as Crawl was).

We are approaching the 3rd Friday of the month. Anyone have an update?

The last update was:
"This delay could be as short as three weeks (by the end of Jan) or as long as a month (early March), we are working to get it shippable as soon as possible."

So we are about a week and a half away from the shortest part of that delay interval.

Wasn't that statement referred to the first official game release? Lit, and the other bonus game were being made available to cover for that lost time. At least, that's how I understood it.

This quote is specifically about the bonus games rather than the main service.

Those games are going through the certification process on modern PC marketplaces now and as soon as we can process keys for them, we will be emailing them out to all active subscribers. We estimate this will be within the next 2 weeks.

Still, it's just an estimation so who knows.

The pricing for this service is odd and makes little sense. Once that 12-month deal expires, there's no incentive for anyone to subscribe more than one month at a time. One month is $5, 3 months is $15 (that's $5 per month), 12 months is $60 (that's $5 per month). Most subscription services allow for better value the longer your subscription is. For instance, PlayStation Now is $20 per month, $45 per 3 months (making it essentially $15 per month), and (when it's available) $99 per year (making it essentially $8.33 per month).

I refunded mine. The delay + Steam key mess + Lit not being WiiWare ver. + it seems like it'll be more 8-bit PC/NES games than later stuff (16/32-bit) got me to refund. I'll buy a la carte if anything peaks my interest.

It was cheaper before, but I guess they left all the plans up for some reason when they PUMPed up the prices. If you subbed for all 12 months before a certain date, it was $20. I forget what the 3 month sub was during the deal window.

what a shitty deal ..
this sounds like those 10 random steam keys for 5 bucks.
And you have a chance for a good game.

nope nope i rather cherry pick one good game.

I say you don't go for it if that's how you're thinking about it. Without saying too much this isn't a bundle service.

I don't think the pricing is a bad deal at all, but it definitely feels disappointing to see that the service is totally unmanned and there's zero effort put towards building any sort of community and supporting it with communication. Just one guy out there making some deals and putting up a barebones site with "take it or leave it" as a business pitch. Lol.

I know. That's why I mentioned the 12 month deal. With that expired, there's really no reason to subscribe on a month to month basis. You're not gaining anything by locking in to a 12 month subscription. If you do the 12 month subscription, you're paying $60. If you do 12 of the 1 month subscriptions, you're paying $60.

So if they have to go through greenlight shouldn't they... you know... put their stuff on greenlight so it can get voted in?

I haven't received any sort of update, but I'm sticking with this, just in case it ends up being worthwhile. I've spent $20 on far worse. Hell, I've spent $60 on far worse. *cough*Brink*cough*

If the first game isn't out by this weekend, then I'm out. So far we have Lit, which I have no interest in, and a tease for a Dizzy game which is a series I never liked.

I signed up hoping to get classic PC or N64/3DO/Saturn games that have never been on Steam but I don't see that happening. Part of me is holding out for something good but I'm losing faith that they'll be able to get anything good locked down when the service is being managed like this. It feels like they'll just be going down a list of desperate old IP holders rather than courting those rare forgotten gems.

Just asked for a refund. This is really a shame. I subscribed over 2 months ago for the 12 month/1 year deal and barely got any communication from them. I sent multiple messages asking for more information and about this whole gog/steam deal, (since it was advertised for steam and not GOG and I've no interest on games for GOG) and they didn't even bother to answer to the messages I sent them.

There is still no account system, something they promised for a long time. And still no news about the bonus games to make up for the delay (they were supposed to be released/sent keys about this time). This is one of the most unprofessional/amauterish service I've ever subscribed. I waited a few weeks (since the delay) to give them time for the at least one of the bonus game and the account system, but neither of them has appeared nor sent any communication. I would have trusted them more and stick with it if at least the account system was in place, instead nothing (not even an email). No account system and no bonus game. They lost all my trust and I'm out. Let's hope at least they give back the money and actually refund in reasonable times.

Edit: plus the whole super-deal 20$ is still in place, which was supposed to be changed to 60$. instead I still see it 20$ on the web site. I preordered thinking it was a limited time thing, instead they didn't even bother to update it.

Not sure why people would be bothered about it still being $20, isn't that good for people who still want to jump in? Also thought they said it will remain that price until the first game is released and since nothing has been released yet they're probably keeping it up until then.

Did anyone get a refund? How long did it take? did they send you a confirmation email or anything to acknowledge the refund request? I'm starting to get worried. I filled in the form for refunds but got no reply from them (not even an automatic reply/answer, which is odd since autoresponder are usually pretty standard). I'm starting to get worried that they will not answer.

It was supposed to be a limited offer, guess they didn't sell enough subscriptions

Erm, it is a limited offer--as they said from the beginning, it was limited until they launch the service. The service isn't launched yet. Once they launch the service, that offer will no longer be available.

I requested the refund and got it pretty quickly - I think they send an email and the next time I looked in my Paypal the money was there.

I guess it could be delayed eternally then?

Yeah, just received an email. But mine is by Credit card, not paypal so I guess it might take a bit longer to appear on my bank.

I went to the site today to see if there was a link for a refund and it seems like things are about to start moving soon.

No more preorder special. I want a refund now but I'll give them another weekend. If it's not delivered by the time I get back from PAX South, I'll email them for a refund.

I still haven't got my refund. i received their confirmation email (for the refund) on the 19. Still nothing, my credit card hasn't been refunded with the money. How long do you think it takes for credit card refund? (I'm from EU if that matters) I should have paid by paypal, instead of credit card (it seems refund are much easier/quicker through paypal).

I'm going to write to them, because I still haven't got my money back. This launch was really a mess, no communications, delay (after waiting for months from initial preorder) was told the day of launch, no steam (after being advertised as a steam Keys subscription service) unless you are willing to wait for greenlight (who knows how long it would take, maybe you would receive them many months later than GOG; they haven't even started to put games on greenlight). And still no account system (which they promised a long time ago). And now the refund is taking so many days to appear. Never gonna buy/subscribe from them anymore in the future and I'm gonna advise all my friends to not subscribe.

Hope things do start moving soon. For $20 I figured I'll stay in. I guess we're getting Lit first, whatever that really is, and it'll be interesting to see what we get going forward.
