I didn't think to look at sums before, but I now notice that as of the quarter ending September 2008, Nintendo passed shipment of 200 million home consoles worldwide. As of the quarter ending December 2008, they're just shy of 300 million portable consoles. Put together, the quarter ending December 2008 sees them passing a combined 500 million consoles.

Awesome chart. I've seen all those numbers before, but it's really cool to see it visually like that. Regarding the GB/GBC split, it's something like 70M vs 50M, right?
It's interesting to compare GBC vs. GBA. While GBA outsold GBC by a fair bit, GBC only had 2.5 years on the market before it's successor came out (versus 3.5, roughly, for GBA). Both had three holiday seasons to themselves, though. Does anyone know how quickly the GBC's sales died off compared to the GBA (which coexisted for a while with the DS)?
