Monster Hunter Wilds user score discrepancy between PC and consoles

I played for days now , runs absolutely fine .
There's no need (or use) to lie.

We've all seen the footage of the game running on a PS5 PRO that's out there.

Unstable framerate, unstable frame pacing, poor performance across the board and ABYSMAL image quality.

Game is running smoothly on Pro, unless you play Frame-counter Wilds instead of MonsterHunter Wilds.

Without a framecounter, you won't (or barely) notice framedrops.

If you want to convince yourself that way it's up to you.

I'll be playing the game tonight again and you on the other hand just yapping around this thread to make yourself feel better

Oh, please. This is some of the most desperate console warrior cope I’ve seen in a while.

PCMR Doesn't Exist? If PCMR didn’t exist, you wouldn’t be seething over it right now. PC gaming continues to dominate in every aspect except raw convenience. Higher refresh rates, unlocked framerates, better graphical fidelity, full customization, and actual backwards compatibility across decades of gaming. Consoles can’t even match their own previous generations half the time without paid remasters or emulated solutions.

Piracy? Oh no, the thing that’s existed for decades and hasn’t killed the industry yet! Meanwhile, PC still gets the best digital sales and bundles, so legally buying games is cheaper than ever.

Underperforming hardware? Name one console that’s outperforming an RTX 4090. I’ll wait.

Optimization difficulties? That’s the price of an open platform. And yet, when developers actually put in the effort, PC versions vastly outperform their console counterparts. Look at Cyberpunk 2077 post-updates, Baldur’s Gate 3, or even older titles like The Witcher 3

F2P stranglehold? You mean the same free-to-play games that dominate consoles too? The difference is, PC doesn’t force you to pay a subscription just to play online.

PC gamers are entitled? Yeah, because we demand higher standards instead of blindly accepting downgraded console versions and overpriced "Pro" re-releases.

This rant is nothing more than another tired attempt to cope with the fact that consoles are nothing but locked-down, stripped-down PCs with corporate-enforced limitations. You can keep bragging about how "optimized" your box is, but PC gamers will keep enjoying higher frame rates, better visuals, mod support, and a gaming library that spans decades.

Keep calling it a "fraud" all you want, but deep down, you know the truth

PC remains unmatched.
Don't feed the troll.

Honestly with my dated rig is working without any real problem, I have a 9900k 32 gig and a 3080.

I managed to make it go stable at 60 fps, but I can see it pissing off some ppl.

What I don't understand is why the hell the first couple of hours of the game had to have all that sand that makes everything look bad. I'm sure that if the game started on a clear time of the day the reception would have been different.

It’s always funny how these bad ports are held up by a select few as to why PC gaming is in trouble, or how consoles are superior. But god forbid a game that runs excellently on PC while having performance issues on console. Or even if the console version is fine, but the PC version scales much further beyond, then it’s obvious the developers are incompetent for not delivering those visuals on console.

Console users showing they will once again accept anything.

PC is the main platform by a huge mile too. If we go by average reviews. Crazy.

Xbox is dad. Lol
You can't judge sales just by the number of review scores though. Helldivers 2 has 700k reviews on Steam but only 100k on PS5 and ofc it didn’t outsell it 7:1. People are just pissed.

Nobody cares, except the people salty about console gamers just enjoying the game.

Because clearly that seems to be the case, going by the scores provided in OP.

You can see people trying to have their cake and eat it too.

People angry at the performance on PC thus dragging it through the mud but also still wanting PC to be better than console so claiming that the reviews are PlayStation gamers accepting bad results.

This is going to be a constant theme every month with every new big release from now until the end of the generation.

And yes, people are going to be defensive about it. People don't want to spend 1300 dollars and get outperformed by a 700 dollar device. That's why I knew there would be FUD surrounding the PS5 Pro, but reality can only be kept at bay for so long.

The next big game release is Assassin's Creed Shadows, but we know that's going to be a conversation derailed. Expedition 33 is probably the biggest game releasing in April, but not big enough to warrant the level of attention that Monster Hunter is getting. The next big game release that will probably draw scrutiny is Metal Gear Solid Delta in August.

We know you guys don't care. That's the whole point of this topic. You'll accept bullshit with a smile. PC players won't, hence the scathing reviews on Steam.

Ofcourse you can't. The entire premise is retarded.

And ofcourse the dunking on Xbox Lolllll I've never 'reviewed' a console game on PS4/PS5, I wouldnt even know how to.

Strawman argument.

Console gamers notice issues, they just tend to enjoy the game for what it is instead of whining about every single thing while it detracts from the enjoyment of your game.

Again. You have no clue what you are talking about

The problem isn't the PC itself but the increasing trend of poorly optimized ports. Developers are prioritizing console versions, either due to marketing deals or simpler hardware optimization, and leaving PC gamers with unoptimized messes

You PS5 pro isn't outperforming shit.

PS5 Pro isn't outperforming anything, it's the PC the is underperforming because of... reasons...

LOL, whatever you have to tell yourself, doesn't change the end result.

PC is not underperforming either. you just talk without actual data. there are no actual comparisons with matched settings and resolutions.

this gpu should give or take must be near ps5 pro performance. and it runs at 60-80 FPS at 1080p native high settings (don't know if ps5 pro uses high settings on its performance mode. but let's say it does)

it's just that people with ps5 pro equivalent hardware don't like it when their hardware can barely get them 1080p 75 FPS.

the game literally almost performs exactly like the console version on PC. so no idea what you're talking about

Cope all you want, but the reality is this: PC is still the superior platform in raw performance, customization, and flexibility. If devs actually took the time to optimize for it, this conversation wouldn’t even exist.

Keep pretending a mid-gen refresh is rewriting the laws of hardware :messenger_grinning_squinting:

How much is an RX 6800?

Why are you pretending like devs are ever going to have the resources (yes, time is a resource), to "optimize" across the spectrum of PC hardware?

There are absolutely advantages to PC and they're worth pointing out, but ignoring the realities around AAA game development as it pertains to PC and console is at best naive and at worst disingenuous.

According to the latest Steam Survey, around 16%.

What do you make of 4060s nearly doubling in one month on the Steam Survey?

Could it be that simply more players with higher end rigs felt the desire to do a steam survey, probably due to KCD2 than they did in previous months? The numbers of specific cards massively increased in one month. I'll be interested to see how that trendline holds over the next couple of months.

it is not being sold anymore but you can find used ones in good condition around 300 bucks
should get even cheaper with new AMD GPUs arriving. even AMD themselves will probably sell an equivalent one at around 300 bucks

also why move goalposts? you claimed PCs are underperforming. something that is close to ps5 pro in terms of graphics performance performs similar to ps5 pro. just admit you were wrong

Re-read what I said. I love when someone says the goalposts are moved simply because they read what they wanted to read and not what was actually said.

The only one moving the goalposts is you suggesting buying used parts.

Oh. They don't have enough time

Time is a resource? Yeah, and so is money. These AAA publishers have plenty of it. But instead of investing in proper PC development, they rush out broken ports and expect the community to fix their mess for free. Then people like you come in acting like it’s just “the reality of game development.” No, it’s the reality of greedy publishers cutting corners and treating PC gamers like second-class customers.

And let’s be real. If a game was running better on PC than on PS5 Pro, you wouldn’t be making excuses about “resources” or “realities.” You’d just accept that better hardware performs better. But since PC is getting the short end of the stick due to lazy dev work, suddenly we’re supposed to just accept it?

moving goalposts once again. I didn't suggest buying used parts at all. I just told you that upcoming AMD GPUs will have RX 6800 performance at that price level because that is usually what happens (and why people price the cards in such a way).

"even AMD themselves will probably sell an equivalent one at around 300 bucks"

rx 9070 xt is on its way with 600 bucks price with 5070 ti performance. something like 9060 xt with 300-360 bucks will easily catch up to rx 6800. and that would still be half the cost of a ps5 pro. rest of the PC won't add up to 1300 bucks unless you don't know what you're doing.

reading comprehension must be hard. and no, you literally said this "People don't want to spend 1300 dollars and get outperformed by a 700 dollar device."
nothing is getting outperformed.

Oh. They don't have enough time

game runs with similar performance on similar hardware. you're just being gaslighted into arguments that are false. just saying

This should be a given, given the price difference of hardware.

It's hardly a good argument you're making here.

With the massive influx of Chinese as a language I’d imagine they decided to combine the Steam and Steam China numbers into one. If the next few months don’t see any major shift like this one then it is the likely explanation.

To be fair, quickly checking, even games that don't perform well on consoles have the same score.

Black Myth Wukong which has no real 60 FPS mode and performs poorly there has a 4.5

Alan Wake 2 which has a huge amount of artifacts and doesn't look that good on console has a 4.75

Same with Silent Hill 2, lots of visual problems and big framerate dips, a 4.9/5

Hell even Cyberpunk that was broken on consoles for a long time and one would guess many reviews were left untouched since then, is sitting at the same 4.5/5.

Actually i guess pretty much every game goes from 4.5 to 5 on it's reviews

Probably? Where is it? You're literally making things up.

You telling yourself that AMD is going to put out a cpu/gpu combination that is cheaper than what they're selling to sony at bulk is delusional.

rx 6800, which has similar performance to ps5 pro in terms of graphics performance, performs similarly to ps5 pro in monster hunter wilds
rx 7700xt (it has similar performance to 6800) which can be now be found for 450 bucks new (and equivalent performance will get price decrease. but let's remove the probabilities and used parts). a PC with rx 7700xt should not even cost more than 1000 bucks in total.
so your idea that "700 bucks ps5 pro overperforming 1300 bucks PC" is still wrong as a PC with rx 7700xt performs just like ps5 pro does in this game.

I won't let you move goalposts any further

Consoles as a product have strengths that exist despite PC warrior denials. First and foremost is the fact that QA is largely done for you and factored into the cost of purchase. The 2nd is it's a focused dev environment where the hardware configs are known in advance and can be planned for in the game's scoping etc.

PC as a platform cannot compete with these two strengths, especially with Steam being as hands-off as they are with QA (which costs money btw).

Also this is going to become a recurring story because we're finally beginning to move past cross-gen games, which means the PS5/Series X is going to be the true floor and dev target for any 60fps game, and thus, PCs with less than 4070s are not gonna be able to handle newer games with any kind of coherency.

A 3070 can handle anything that a PS5/Series X can handle

This game is just unoptimized

On Xbox theres no time to post reviews as everyone is to busy playing the best version of the game, its that much better it pulls you into the world, unlike the other versions with people wanting to stop playing a write a review.

It only took more than half of the gen, with a game that still looks no better than an early ps4 one.

This game is just unoptimized
it's not even that. outside of texture issues, 3070 is probably outperforming ps5 in this game at equivalent settings with matched resolution.

but imagine a situation where game is so unoptimized that it runs at 240p 60 FPS on PS5. and all console users are happy and they don't care it runs at 240p (fine). then on PC you would, at best, get 40 FPS at 1080p on a 4070 on such a game

then imagine using this and saying ps5 is much more optimized and runs the game better than a 4070. is it logical at all?

I have no clue why people expect miracles out of hardware like 3070/4070 when game runs this badly on a PS5.

I don't get it either. Why are there still fights over hardware when everyone agrees this is a horribly optimized game?
Yeah, it’s both comical and sad to watch. “My hardware is better than yours”. Meanwhile, hardware isn’t the issue.

Then again, maybe I’m less impacted as an owner of the top console and a powerful rig. I just don’t get why sides pretzel themselves into this fight as Capcom laughs all the way to the bank!

Use that energy to attack the dev.

8GB VRAM does not allow texture settings to be set to High or Ultra in some games.
A high-performance GPU requires at least 12GB or more, and narrow memory bandwidth will cause a bottleneck.
