Neil Druckmann: "don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us. This could be it"

The game was literally in the bargain bin for years.

Doesn't mean it bombed pal. Do the research. Only Nintendo games can survive going into the bargain bin.

It's tempting to want to hope for a prequel showing what happened to Joel and Tommy after the loss of Sarah highlighting the dark path it took them both leading up to where the first TLOU started. At the same time I think they squeezed just about all of they can from that fruit already. The series is done. Time to move on to new stories.

One basic rule is that a story must end with the most dramatic event. Ellie can't go further than in TLOU 2.

A hypothetical TLOU 3 should feature new characters and settings, which is also a huge gamble. I understand he doesn't want that.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
Everyone who contributed to the negative discourse around the awful second game be like:

Those damn incels...
Those idiots complain about every single piece of media, so that can't be the case, Sony would have to stop making games all together if they wanted to avoid the negativity from that group- they complain about everything.

It says right there that it comes from a database leak. I don't know what's worse, your retarded observation or the fact that Fake Fake unironically liked your post.
No, it's from the Insomniac leak.

Your source is just pictures when we have actual sales data to show that the game sold well.
How about you give me an official number from Sony about how many copies sold before coping about some leaked data lol

Then there’s the long-whispered possibility of “The Last of Us Part III.”

I was waiting for this question,” Druckmann says, sighing, when I bring up the prospect of a third game. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.

He's not going to give a direct answer, he's just going to give an evasive answer which doesn't confirm or deny that there's a Part III coming. We know they have more than one game in development. lol

Makes sense. Where do they go after TLOU2. There are no likable characters anymore. They killed Joel, ruined Ellie, and didn't create another character that is likable to lead another game. TLOU3 would have to be a brand-new story

This is basically how Naughty Dog work

PS1: Crash
PS2: Jak
PS3: Uncharted ( Last Of Us came at the end & was mostly PS4 generation)

PS4: Last Of Us
PS5: Intergalactic

I’d like that.

But I was fine with how TLOU1 ended. It was the perfect ending. They should’ve stopped there tbh.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
Takes too long to make one. So it's probably for the best. I would like to get something new from them instead.

I can't stand Tom Holland as Natan Drake from Uncharted movie, so by your brilhant logic I only capable of watching young men in movies if I want to fuck them or something.

Or this only apply to women?

It does sound like you have a deep yearning for a more macho, mature, alpha nathan drake you fantasise topping you. When presented with the lithe twink of a boy that is Tom Holland, you clearly were not satiated.

By the end of February 2022, it had sold 9.9 million copies. Digital sales were at 4 million. By June 2023, they sold an additional 2.3 copies digitally. By that 41% digital metric, The Last of Us Part II has likely sold over 15 million by June 2023.

Neil said the game was profitable.

This is backed up by the sales leak from Spider-Man 2, which only needed 7.2M copies at full price to break even, and the Last of Us Part II cost 100M less to develop.

During the first half of 2024, Last of Us Part II Remastered was 10th in Europe

The report from UK shows that Part II Remastered was 16th in the UK.

It was also 20th in Europe as of November 2024.

The game didn't bomb, not even close.

He is not a good actor, neither a good fit for Natan Drake. Tom Holland don't have the same height as Natan Drake, don't have the same face as Natan Drake, don't have the same physical body as Natan Drake.

But nice flex you did here.

"One of the notes that I resent the most is 'We loved this thing — more of it, please!'" he says. "No. You love it because that's the right amount of it. When you do more, what makes it special starts to dissipate. It becomes comfort food."

That sums up part 2 very nicely. It dissipated what made the original special.

Should have left it there, instead of retconning it (the missing Fireflies files from the sequel and the series), and turning a morally grey open-to-interpretation story into black & white one that underlines what's wrong and what's not with a warped logic.

She didn't 'sacrifice' herself, she was gonna die anyway.

How do you contradict yourself?
Saying she was going to die anyway doesn't mean she wasn't willing to give Joel time to escape lol.
The form she chose to die is the act of heroic action you choose to ignore.

But wasn't Part 2 a huge success according to people? Why would they be leaving that kind of money on the table?
I mean...is that a game you want to play?

Uncharted 4 sold over 20M copies and was ported to PC later. Where's Uncharted 5?
Crash Bandicoot trilogy was a success. Why did Naughty Dog go to Jak and Daxter?

Jak & Daxter was a success. That's why it had 3 games. Why did they stop and create Uncharted?

Maybe everything flopped for Naughty Dog and that's why they keep doing different IPs.

Sony are probably bringing the hammer down after seeing the decline in sales compared to the first game.

After Intergalactic bombs watch Sony instruct them to make Uncharted 5: the quest for more money.
