Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has attracted over four million players, according to Microsoft.
The title was released on December 9, 2024, for Xbox Series X/S and PC, and has also been available with Game Pass since launch.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella touched on the game’s early performance during the company’s second quarter earnings call on Wednesday.

4 million players

And yet only a few hundred thousand purchased it

GamePass with only 2% growth. What a cancer this is to devs and studios. Remove Day 1 GP or increase the price of GP dramatically

What a shock, you can’t read.

Anyway this seems pretty good for a game everyone was saying would be a buggy and rushed turd based on a dead IP. Let’s also not pretend it’s some Tomb Raider action game, it’s an adventure game.

If there was ever an Xbox game that deserved good sales, it is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. I am having a blast with it.

Easily and I do mean easily the best exclusive that Microsoft has.

Anyone on PS5 only, should purchase this game.

I wont call it a true 10/10 game, but I'll grade it on a slight curve and give it that.

In the real world it's probably an 8/10.

I have paused playing it while I wait for the DLSS4 patch.

I almost regret playing it on Xbox, because all my save info is obviously on that account and I'm absolutely buying a physical copy on PS5.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Ah I remember some peoples putting all faith on Steam CCU as an indicator that it flopped. Arguments that its on gamepass were just ignored, it flopped, look steam CCU.

Now the goal post is that did they really pay for it because of gamepass?

4 million people played an amazing game, here's hoping even more, who are stuck on a single eco-system without the game, get a chance to in a few months as well. 💚

Hifi rush had 3 million players lol
4mil is a disaster. It's a free download for 35 mil users. The budget for Indy is surely 100+ mil. And then you have to factor in the costs of licensing the IP. There is a very low chance of a sequel being greenlit, imo

In relation to Hifi Rush, I guarantee you Indy will lose Microsoft more money

That's... not that great? Around 34 million subs and only a small portion of them were interested in an Indy game?
That’s all of gaming in a nutshell. Why do you think everyone wants to make GaaS now? Gamers just want to play the same games over and over, even if they get new ones at no additional cost. If 4 million at least tried on one platform, that’s a win in my opinion. I hope it sells well on PS5 for the sake of single player game development staying alive

damn! hopefully playstation can save machinegames from chopping block.

Microsoft wouldn't be stupid enough to get rid of Machine games. It's not a Hifi Rush situation, where they cancel the studio. Indy is just a dead IP. The movie sucking just nuked any chance it had to succeed. It's a really good game, which sucks

Ah shit you're right

At least they make money with DLC / MTX / Season pass even though the game is on gamepass

Netflix gets fuck all extra. Thank you for the correction.

Imagine if we get more new multimedia Indy projects in light of this games success now.

Ford is a relic now and definitely should not be reprising the role any more, time to fan-cast someone younger.

Continue the Solo route and get the same actor?

I suspect this game will do good numbers once it's ported to PS5 and Switch 2. The Xbox version basically serves as good word of mouth for those userbases.

There are 35,000,000 PC and Ultimate subs, and they’re free? Hot damn.

Being on gamepass, you would think more subscribers would atleast try the game but majority weren't interested. I bet it was the first person view that turned them off.

35 million Gamepass subscribers and only 4 million bothered to download it.

It even includes copies sold on PC/Xbox so less than 4 million.

What’s so impressive about it? These numbers are pathetic.

Yeah, more people (over 10M, maybe even 15M) downloaded Black Ops III on PS Plus (~40M userbase) when Sony gave it away for a month during E3 2018, nearly three years after it had sold tens of millions of units already, than people even tried Starfield (most anticipated Xbox game since Halo 3, touted as a 'Game of the Generation' pre-launch) in its first year and, needless to say, Indiana Jones (which, contrary to Starfield, was actually a well-received and polished release) in a similar one-month window.

4 million players is impressive regardless of the caveats people want to put on it. What percentage of console owners do you guys think buys a game? Outside of Nintendo, it’s very small.
4 million "free" riders isn't impressive. You're literally putting out a game with an 85 metacritic for "free" and getting less than 15% of the people who could play it on that service to even download it.

Higher MAU does not mean higher revenues, nor does it mean higher profits. That's what they care about when it's all said and done. Don't be surprised when Microsoft starts axing studios left and right.
